Went and saw Onassis at Aldwych last night thanks to the code posted by Misty38
We got Stalls seats, row O! I was seriously expecting to be up the back somewhere, but these seats were brilliant!
A great show, with a good cast of actors - we had a really good night, and best of all that it was FREE!
Thanks Misty38
Glad you enjoyed it Smiley - I was there on Friday night too - Row P
Great seats, but then again the theatre was half empty!
Unfortunately my friend and I walked out at the interval - first time I've ever done that! Agree the cast was great, but just couldn't get into the story - very slow paced. To be honest we were both really bored and struggling to stay awake!
Then again, that's the beauty of these freebies I guess. There aren't many free films/plays/concerts I've not enjoyed over the last few years - unfortunately this was an exception.
Maybe I should've gone to Britain's Next Top Model at the Excel instead0 -
I went to see the same play on Thursday and like you, we left at the interval.I learnt some new stuff about the goings on at the time but also found it hard to get into. It seemed like the actors were chosen on how good their greek accents were and the story-telling was tarantino a la pulp fiction but pieced together in an order that was hard to follow and made quite excessive use of visuals to tell the story
It's great getting the opportunity to see these plays but i must say I also enjoy the guilt free feeling of walking out when it's below par!0 -
I went to see Onassis last wk, thanks to the code from Misty!
I really enjoyed it, although my boyf wasn't so keen. I just went to see Robert Lindsay though really!0 -
Onassis
I enjoyed my freebie.
All that money, lots of tragedy0 -
Evening All,
Thanks again for the code for GnR. Rainey. :T I got some tickets for my son and his friends, but the friends were unable to go, so he asked me and my granddaughter if we wanted to go instead!! Why not? I thought, it’s been a few years since I've been to a rock concert (well, quite a lot really, if I’m totally honest). I wasn’t sure what aspiring rock chicks wore these days, so I opted for tying the belt from my red checked dressing gown around my head (in a sort of, how I remember Axl/Rambo style) in a nice big bow with the dangly bits, hanging down from the side. I thought I looked cool, my granddaughter thought I looked quite sweet – my son thought differently! After I changed, we set off for the MEN arena.
I was a little nervous about redeeming the printouts, but the young man in the box office just exchanged them for proper tickets. It felt great, even when the man on the doors said he hoped I wasn’t going to cause trouble  - he had just found my toilet roll in my bag (I have a streaming cold and tissues just weren’t doing it for me). My granddaughter seemed to find this hysterical – my son again thought differently.
We were near the top of the upper tier and when I eventually caught up with the steward, my son and granddaughter, we settled down to watch Skid Row.
I thought they were good and really enjoyed them. Then we settled down to wait and wait! As people had already warned us that Axl had a tendency to be late on stage, and the fact the tickets were free, we joined in with the banter around the arena – did Ali eventually get anyone to marry her/him; when were JLS coming on and YES, we did want the fat streaker back. The Mexican Wave didn’t live up to its full potential but hey, you can’t have everything.
I felt that Axl took the term ‘being fashionably late’ beyond what is generally acceptable. There were children there who would have to be up for school and people who would have to be up for work, but all seemed forgiven when GnR appeared on the stage. I felt sorry for anyone who had paid for their tickets and had to leave before the end of the show – I wouldn’t have been happy (you wouldn't get that at a Westlife concert!)
I agree with the earlier poster who said the sound wasn’t brilliant but you can’t fault the energy of the band throughout the nearly 2½hour show. We were absolutely shattered towards the end of the night (sorry, early morning) but the fireworks kept us from nodding off!
All in all it was an interesting night and walking through Victoria Station at 1 in the morning was an experience!
I think you just have to remember that the tickets were free and the man has a reputation - you pays your money (or not) and you take your chance.
:T Thanks again Rainey.
Fabulous review :T Glad you enjoyed yourself at the gig and annoying the youngstersI can't wait to tell the kids round here that no I haven't been to see a film for free, I went to a concert for free instead! That'll shut the little torments up :rotfl::rotfl:
I hope your cold has gone?0 -

But with such a great theatre up here, and a few other small ones that I've even performed in it would be a shame not to use them.... HINT HINT to SFF
Manchester was the nearest the free theatre got to both of us gb. That was the musical about Take That. I wish I had tried for tickets now, I wrongly assumed that more free theatre was heading our way.0 -
Poochface, I just noticed you've acquired a rather shiny medal/star
Well done - keep the entertaining posts coming...and the codes of course!0 -
Mary J. Blige is playing the O2 on Tuesday and Birmingham & Manchester next week, there are lots of unsold tickets, floor level seating and level 1......we might be lucky with SFF!!:hello:0

:j
Will clear my diary just in case...wishful thinking me thinks
You never know, same for GnR, I was keeping an eye on their tickets and similar availability, they won't want a half empty arena! We'll have to be on a look out for an email Monday and first thing Tuesday just in case!!:hello:0
