    try your employers stores or shipping bays - my wife went down and asked and came home with 60 industrial strength cardboard boxes that were 4ft by 2ft - very handy

    otherwise freecycle is worth a shot

    Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
    Stationery suppliers, or Staples, Office Depot, Costco, Asda, other supermarkets for Document Storage Boxes.

    Pros;
    Designed to take lots of paper, so handle heavy weights well.
    Have carrying handles. Have lids.
    Will stack easily.
    They fold flat, so you open them up to use in removal, then fold flat again and store in attic or garage for using again the next time you move

    Cons: You have to pay for them.
  • Moving house with free cardboard boxes is certainly moneysaving, but its a major hassle. In the past I have tried this and ended up binning the boxes and buying some plastic crates from B&Q. These crates are 'fit for purpose', you are far less likely to end up with a slipped disc or your possessions spilled all over the road. Sometimes moneysaving can go too far.
