Most shops will give you some if you ask them nicely. When I worked in retail we would regularly have customers asking if we could save our boxes for them following deliveries.

Whereabouts are you and when are you moving? I should have about 12 big boxes soon from when we moved.

A lot of shop ones can be very big and too heavy when filled. Try Freecycle or Freegle - people who have just moved are happy to get rid of the clutter. You could also keep an eye open for removal vans and see if you can scrounge some from people a few days after moving in.

Ahh you're miles and miles away from me otherwise you could have had them!

Good luck on the hunt for some though ~ I bought a load from eBay, think they cost me £20, but they moved enough stuff for 5 people from and to a 3bed house, just incase you can't find any for free.

Try Par market - they're open today.

Or put a shout out on Network Cornwall (google it)

A lot of shops these days break down the boxes pretty quickly to recycle them.

You may need to give them advance warning that you'd like some, or at least get them to flatten them for you so that they can still be used by you later. (When they are flattened they are also easier to get home!)
