How do I lodge a complaint against vayama.co.uk

  • I find it better to presume that all tickets are non-date changeable and non-flexible when booking. If I need flexibility, then that's the time to check. There is simply no 'fast and hard' rule. For example a whole section of Malaysian Airlines tickets offer absolutely no flexibility at all, with no money refundable, and can easily cost over £1,000 per person economy. So paying more money is also no guarantee.

Or you could try talking to a human being that has the fare conditions in front of them.
  • At the threat of me wanting to lodge an official complaint vayama has offered to re-imburse the fare of a new single return ticket that I can chose to buy at a date of my convenience. Thank God none of you guys are working for vayama or else i would have not recieved such a favourable response!! Thankss for all your help though.

But the lesson is- Never give up because some one told you it wouldn't work!! Learn from your own lessons!!

Unfortunately, expensive doesn't always mean flexible. It's all down to route competition, the time of year, how far ahead you book, airline yield management etc. etc. I try to book M class on my usual routes so I can upgrade using miles. I've often paid far less for an M than for some T class fares I've had to buy when demand was high.

Anyway, welcome to the dark art of fare classes ;-)

Seems they were afraid of an official complaint, for some reason or other. Other agents may have just told you to go away. Interesting one though.

perhaps next time you would consider picking up the phone, and explaining to your nice, friendly travel agent exactly the type of ticket you would like to buy - ie the cheapest, fully restricted ticket, a ticket that can be changed for a fee, a ticket that can be changed free of charge.

Travel agents are trained for this sort of thing, and can give exactly the advise you require. Yes, there are many times when we are that little bit more expensive than booking on the internet, but at least you know you are dealing with someone who knows exactly what they are doing, and will get you (where possible) the type of ticket you require.

Your post makes no sense - either they are going to reimburse your old flight, or book you a flight in the future. The blunder in your post makes me question your story. They've done nothing wrong, so why be so generous? And who did you threaten to make the complaint to?

The TA won't be getting a refund from the airline, and are promising you a free flight at your lesuire??? I very much doubt that.

Oh, and you *still* haven't detailed which airlines allow free changes on non-flexible tickets (which you claimed was a 'rule' either in this thread).

Listen mate you can chose to live-in denial. I have better things to do in life than cook up a !!!! and bull story and open up a thread. The guys are giving a refund because they havef sold a commodity without displaying the terms in full. You want me to show you reciepts? Stick it up!

So it's a refund, and not a free flight in the future? Make your mind up.
The terms are on their site, and the booking class is displayed at time of sale.

So, again, I must ask; which airlines offer free changes as a rule?

  • Alright my friend...didn't realise that you find it hard to understand things. Ok for your benefit, I shall make sure I don't make any mistakes what so ever. If you still do not understand...tough luck!!

I raised the issue with vayama cust service cause I genuinely felt decieved for not being provided with all the terms and conditions pertaining to the ticket. Simply providing a code and leaving the responsibility on the customer is like credit card fraud through their terms and consitions written in 'fine print'. Anyway Vayama acknowledged my point and apologised. Because the fare is non-amendable and I needed to purchase a new return ticket and I already purchased one cause they took their own time to reply, they offered to re-imburse the price of my new ticket bought through virgin airways.

As for the free changes offered by airlines- all airlines do that for most fares but as is obvious in this case, the free change was not available on this fare code. In future I will be more careful but agents do need to take some responsibility for explicitly stating terms and consitions rather than 'codes' which do not mean anything to lay people!! If customers are to go to the airline to verify the code they might as well buy the ticket from the airline!! I think vayama picked this point up and promised to take remedial measures. I hope you do not work in customer services for any company or else they might go bust!!

BTW I think you need to get a better job rather than passing non-constructive statements on this forum. Over and out!! Shooooo!!:silenced:

Many thanks, a list of airlines and their free change booking classes for discounted economy travel class would be useful for future reference.
