Hello there! I am in need of some friendly advice and couldn't think of a better place, so here I go
I have just recently moved into a house share accommodation with 2 full time uni students, who don't work (typical
). I, however, am not a student and work a minimum wage job at around 30 hours a week, give or take a few. (I work in a hotel so it varies). It's minimum wage so it's tight for money each month once I pay my rent £402, council tax £70 (after the 25% discount) and my share of all the bills... i'm left with enough for a pot noodle every now and again!!
I was just curious as to whether there are any benefits i'm missing out on? I know i'm not eligible for working tax credits as i'm only 20 but if you know of anything that could help me out i'd love to know.
Thanks guys :j

If you have your own bedroom you can apply for the shared rate of LHA for your area as well as CTB (same form anyway). If your income is low enough you will be able to get help. If they deem you to be earning enough then you won't get help. I have to say I don't think you will get any help but you don't know unless you apply and see.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Hi OP,
My sister is in exactly the same position as you. She is 21, rents a small flat and works in a hotel. She also struggles as her hours are different every week and this makes having a 2nd job impossible as one week she will work 40 hours and the next week only 30 hours. She is entitled to no benefits, she pays full CT (25% single person discount) and only gets paid minimum wage. She is looking forward to turning 25 and being able to claim WTC, god only knows why you have to be 25, my sister has worked since she was 16 and never been given any help.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

OP's rent may be inclusive of all bills ?????
Already said 'share of bills'. £402 is nothing, I once paid £420 for a house share with 4 people to include bills (Crouch end) and £390 with 5 people not including bills (Kingston), £375 with 4 people to include biils (Bow). Houseshares near me not (Mottingham) are £380 ish0 -
I live an hour from chingford actually.0
