Memory Card Mystery - can you work it out please ??

I have 2 Sony Digital Cameras, identical models. (I need to have a spare one in case the other one breaks as I holiday in very remote places where I wouldn't be able to get it fixed)

So let's call them camera 1 and camera 2.

I turned on camera 1 and the memory stick was working fine as I looked through my photos.

I tried the memory stick from camera 2 into camera 1, but it did not work and came up with error 13 : 01. Looking on the Sony website, it says it might be damaged.

BUT, when I put this memory stick into camera 2 it works fine, just not in camera 1.

All my other memory sticks work find in both cameras.

If it wasn't a 1gb card, I might not be so bothered, but I just can't figure out why it works in one camera and not the other ............ anyone any ideas ???

back up all of the pictures on the card (to a computer) and format the card using the camera (if possible) and see if that fixes your problem

No, it won't let me format it, because it doesn't recognise the memory stick because there is an error !!

Any other suggestions ??

Format it in the camera it works in, or use a card reader/writer.

Yep, forgot that option - doh !! I am still hungover after Scotland beat France and not thinking straight !!!!

Nope, it only erased the data still doesn't work.

Is this memory card a genuine Sony or one off ebay?

Genuine, I never scrimp on memory cards.

I have had it a year or so but treat them like gold and keep them in a special case etc. As I say, it works in one camera but not the other, that's why I am so confused

Are the cameras identical. i.e the same firmware version or could one be a bit older and not be able to handle a 1Gb stick?

Nope, exact same model, both have used 2gb sticks and as I say, the one that it doesn't work in, still lets all my other sticks work in it fine.
