Selling house - Vandalism of for sale sign!

House has been on the market no less then 3 days and some little t**t has graffitied on my for sale sign! Hadn't had any problems with the neighbours before this, and some teenagers grouping together outside chattign and messing around.

Oh sign said "too stuck up for estate". Little !!!!!!!s.

Rant over!

Devalues the whole estate, parents' houses too. There is an area where we were looking to live, with a lot going for it in terms of what we wanted. Until a little gang started felt tip graffitiing 'XXnn gang' where XXnn = postcode. We stopped looking there and 3 years later some of the houses we looked at are still on the market.

Take the sign down [it is now counterproductive] and get a new one.

I would give it another go. Passing trade has not died out and there is word of mouth.

When I was young the craze was to set fire to "For sale" signs. They went up quite spectacular with molten plastic streaming out of the bottom like a fire work I'm told.

At Uni people use to take the signs at the beginning of term and replant them at the end of the year in same house some 9 months later even if it had new owners. Which isn't theft in the eyes of the law as you have no intention to permanently deprive.

Not that I promote any of the above of course. :D

can you get it fitted high up on the wall ?
  • Nah not really possible. Besides if they set fire to it then I might have some REAL trouble lol :D
  • I do sympathise.

I noticed a house that i would have liked, but, on closer inspection, someone had written 'C-rap house' on the for sale board.:o
I never even bothered with a viewing, and it took a very long time to sell.

I've seen boards inside peoples windows. Is that an option for you?
Not attractive and might block out some light, but you could take it out of the window while viewers are there.
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(
  • Got 1 viewing already which i'm guessing is from online marketing due to the time its been on (sign been up only 1.5days). Missus just cleaned it off if it happens again gonna get rid, too much hassle. But on the other hand, if they have nothing to graffiti, they might move on to my windows... lol so funny I could cry with laughter if it wasn't me!!

It's not big and it's not clever but I remember one night back in my youth when a few of my friends and I had had a few too many shandys. We went around the estate lifting all the for sale signs we could find (about 15 of them) and replanted all of them in one poor fellas front garden. In our defence the poor fella's house had been up for sale for an awfully long time. I should probably take the opportunity to publicly apologise to him. Sorry. :o
  • Did his house sell in the end tho :D
