Really annoyed. I haven't been paid from job 2 and after this week they are moving to monthly pay (so think I'm being fobbed off so not paid weekly for the last time) - need to sort it out today as really need that money this week as don't want to drop into reserve (we technically "can" but not go more than £340 as that will be backwards but if I can avoid it totally.....)

PS some good news on the Swalec front. DH pulled out our contract to make sure we had been paying what we were recommended (we were) but also spotted they had input our gas start reading over 1000 units lower than the reading on the contract!!! We still owe money but not as much. However, this may mean we owe our old supplier so not going to change sig until I know for sure.

I watch Rip Off Britian last night and energy suppliers were on that - seems we are all being duped into lower payments so we switch and after a few months being told we owe money!!

How annoying with your job 2 Kat, could you explain to them the impact of them messing you around like this?

I saw that on Rip Off Britain as well! It is all so complicated and designed so that no-one knows what they're doing I think!

    They definitely do!

When we moved in they told us £30 a month would be sufficient for electric, I told OH to put it at £50 to be on the safe side and we are still in arrears

Would have been even worse if we'd gone with what they suggested!

i watched that as well, and the same energy company did exactly the same to me. I think i did all the things the man on the tv did and left pretty sharpish, maybe i should have complained formally as well.

oh on the subject of your pay, if your contract says weekly until the date when it's agreed you go monthly then they have to pay you weekly! you could always threaten to go to the CAB, might make them do something.

True. I have text him and no response. I know some staff get paid cash in hand (dodgy I know) but if I get no response before I start tonight I will ring while in work and if still no joy I will take the cash out and leave a receipt in the till for my troubles. (I won't really but that's what I want to do)

Just paid £40 into the debt fund :D

I still need to ring the bank for my online banking number so I know what the balance on the loan is. I'm worried about the reserve being higher this month but DH says as long as it's only this month and we recoup it next month it's not too bad. We will see on pay day!

Well done on the £40 Kat :)

Hope the nasty reserve is much less than expected x

  • Had a bit of a 'mare last night. Finished job 2 and went to my car - toally frozen. Now my fob to remotely open the doors doesn't work so I am in a dark and lonely car park at 11.30 at night trying to warm my key up with a lighter.

I finally manage to force the doors to unlock so turn on my engine and start to scrape my car (with my blood doner card - it's a weird thing I do but if I slip on the ice and knock myself out etc at least whoever finds me knows what blood type I am).

Scraping complete (inside and out) I finally get in the car to go home. Close the door............ and it swings back open. Try again more forcefully.........swings back open. Try again a few more times, resort to getting out and slamming the door - it WILL NOT CLOSE!

I ring DH (who doesn't drive), get frustrated with him that he's being no help (how can he be, I was totally unreasonable) and end up arguing.

I ring the breakdown service I have with my bank and they have no record of me. After much to-ing and fro-ing they set me up and say someone will be with me in between 45mins and 2hrs !!! I promptly start to cry hysterically as I'm cold (it was -3.5), on my own and can't even shut let alone lock the door to keep me warmish and safe.

Ring DH again - he was already on his way down on his bike (push not motor) to rescue me. He ties his bike lock around the door and an anchor point and tells me to drive home.

I ring the breakdown company again and ask them to meet me at the house instead as it wasn't safe for me to stay there and start to drive home. The bike lock idea was good in theory - not in practice. I have to hold the door shut with one hand and stear, indicate and change gears with the other (so unsafe).

I finally get home and DH does a few mins later. He goes out to take a look (no clue what he's doing) - decides to kick the lock which prompts it to work again.

3rd call to breakdown people to say not to bother to come!!

I have now decided to NOT take my car to job 2 tonight and I'm walking.
