Putting up the relies....need to buy a bed

Simple question really...I need to buy some sort of single bed for our (very) small spare room. It has to fit in a space that is surrounded by 3 walls so therefore cannot be any longer than 2000cm. (That excludes lots of wood framed beds as they tend to be 5 or 6 cms at least, longer than this.)

I was thinking of getting one of those divans that have a pull out guest bed underneath but have realised that the base of the bed will need to be made slightly differently to a normal divan because it accommodates the pullout and am wondering if they are not as strong? Some of the pics online that I've been looking at this morning seem to have just a very thin base.

SIL & BIL are seriously hefty, I don't know if this type of bed would be practical? Maybe I'd be better getting a normal divan and keeping a blow up mattress for when the 2 of them visit together? One in the bed one on the mattress?

Do beds have weight guidelines? Are there certain ranges that are stronger than others?

My S + BIL have a bed just like this (looks like a regular single bed but has a low bed tucked underneath that pulls out?) for when BIL's son stays with them - he is 16 stone
Me + OH have also crashed on this bed, too 'tired' to bother making it into 2 beds, and you'd get no change from 20 stone with the pair of us! Think they are stronger than they look!:D

We have a double blow up bed at home for guests, only problem with it is that it's (obviously) seriously low to the ground, so wouldn't do for my ancient mother for eg. S + BIL find it perfectly good, and he is no 9 stone weakling

We have a trundle bed which is as you describe but if it was in a small room how would you get the underneath bed out? you need at least the space the bed takes up plus space for someone standing to pull it out.. if its a small room it won't work.. especially if you have other furniture in there as well..
Ours is very strong with normal type matresses and very very comfortable .. I'll look for the receipt if you like and tell you where we got it, I have a terrible memory

I'm not sure what they weigh but at a guess it would bea fair bit more than 16st each.

tanith, I have space sideways, just not lengthways. So the bed can't be any longer than 2 mtrs but I could pull a trundle out sideways I think. (Just)

try ikea they do beds of all shapes and sizes
divan beds are great and good idea for storage

I couldn't find the receipt but OH says we bought in a bed place that was inside an Allied Carpet shop... I think I found the exact one though its expensive but we figured it was worth it for a comfortable spare bed that our grandchildren would use too.. We actually knocked them down £65 and ended up paying £215

My in-laws put us on foam cushion blocks which fold up into small chairs. Low, but comfortable.
