I'm thinking of booking an all exclusive to Turkey.
Have no idea what the place is like is it worth a visit?.
We like exploring not just sitting on the beach or round a pool so just wonder if it will be right for us
Thanks.

I've been to Olu Deniz a few times. It's a lovely little resort - very laid back and chill out sort of place. There's the main beach which is a mix of sand and pebbles, and waves, but then there are beaches around the lagoon which are sandy and the water is very still and shallow. There are plenty of places to eat, and some nice bars but the nightlife is fairly quiet.
There are plenty of trips in the area with loads of different things to do. These sites will give you ideas on things you can get up to:

If you are looking for nightlife, Hisaronu is up in the mountains and it has plenty of clubs and eating places. It's much more busier and louder up there. Some people stay there and then travel down to Olu for the beach, others stay in Olu and travel up when they want to party!
Fethiye is about 20 mins away and it's a working city. It has a nice harbour and plenty of places to eat and drink, plus a huge weekly market which is an experience!
It's cheap and easy to travel between all three by taxi or dolmus (local bus service).
Lovely country with lovely people and I would certainly visit again. Here I go again on my own....0 -
There's plenty of historical sites, scenery and some architecture to see in Turkey. But the distances to get to them can be substantial and the weather is so hot in high summer that a few hours on a coach is not that attractive a proposition. If you are going all inclusive make sure you choose a hotel with decent food.0

Turkey is great. If you like exploring it's well worth hiring a car as many of the more special spots can be quite remote.
We went to Side but if I returned I would probably head to Antalya as it's a better base.0 -
You have quite a large choice of resorts spread over a large area.
I'd say your best bet is to pop to your library and get some guide books out and check out the travel-specific websites like Tripadvisor and Holidaytruths to narrow down your choice.
We really like Turkey, although some people seem to have an issue with the 'hassle' from people.
We've been to Altinkum, Side, Turgutreis (twice) Yalikavak and Alanya.
Never been all-inclusive because it's not really our style of holiday.
Check out the resorts on the Bodrum Peninsular.
It's not too long a transfer to most of the resorts and Bodrum is a busy place that you can visit for the day, it has a nice harbour and castle.
You can do day trips to Ephesus or Pamukkale or do a combined 2 day trip.
We really like Turgutreis, some of the AI hotels I've seen in that area are 'a bit out of the way' but there's at least 3 AI hotels that are within walking distance of the centre - Mandalinci, La Blanche & Aegean Dreams.
There's a busy market on Saturdays and you can get the local buses into Bodrum and out again to other resorts.
Check out World of Wonders (WOW) resort in Bodrum - it seems to get really good reviews - or did last time I looked.0 -
Turkey is fantastic. I agree with OP about the Olu Deniz/Hisaronu/Fethiye area. No hassle there, unlike some areas.
I personally wouldn't go AI but it depends on your circumstances.travelover0 -
I only go Ai in Turkey , wont suggest a region as I just go for a hotel based holiday
did the sightseeing years ago .
Dont go to Lara Beach Antalya region , ( on the med coast )
Hotels are 5 star and wonderful , but nothing at all in the region.0 -

Turkey is a big place! It's the size of Western Europe. So, like anywhere it has it's good bits and bad bits. It really depends on what you want to do.0 -
Hi, been to Turkey and really enjoyed it. Recommend to visit Pamukkale:

2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
Depends what type of holidays you usually like. I love some parts of Turkey but not others. Some areas are very touristy and have increased in tourism massively in the last decade or two.
You need to type Review into google followed by the name of your accommodation and the area name. Lots of review websites will come up - previous customers have left their reviews. You have to learn to read between the lines, work out what type of family or person has written that review (young, old, family etc). You will always get one or two whingers even in the most amazing places but if the majority of reviews are negative then avoid at all costs.
Hope this helps.

If you really want go all exclusive like you ask, then just go backpacking with a tent:rotfl:
If you want to go somewhere different to anywhere else in the world then visit the Cappadocia region of Turkey.
It's easy to get to, even on a d-i-y holiday.
In June we flew Easyjet to Istanbul. That same night got the overnight sleeper train (Ankara Express) to Ankara. Had a couple of nights in Ankara, and then got a bus to Urgup. Spent the next week on public transport travelling round Cappadocia. It's great. Then retraced our steps to Istanbul ,and stayed a few nights in that awesome, wonderful city.
Google Cappadocia, or Goreme, and see what you think.
Easy-peasy to sort a trip like that out, justs needs a bit of planning, which is all part of the experience.0
