Just a quick comment on the above.

I have previously being told by a friend from HSBC. This is a few years old & they no longer work there. But the telephone system when you keyed in your account details they saw who you are and transfered you to a call centre. I dont know if this is still true. But The better customers got a UK call center. The worst India.

This might have been a urban myth.

Agree with Stclair. Not only this, but this only takes into consideration internal scoridng. If the person has been made BR, has defaults etc, there is still a substantial chance the application could decline whether they appear on any score be it 1 or 10.

When i do the application for a royalties account and it declines, it normally tells us why. For example, bankruptcy marker, adverse credit data and previous account conduct. Income makes no difference as only last week a new customer who had no income and was new to the country was offered a gold account. So the OP should ask why it has declined.

Biggest problem with key account is you can never have an overdraft.

It takes alot longer for your account to open online as you have to send in ID etc. I normally open an account within 30 mins if you bring the right id with you. Its a simple task of copying id, credit checking and getting manager to sign it off. Customer leaves with account number and sort code, card and pin follow in post.

It would not surprise me if AVU did not close the account shortly afterwards.

Its always quicker and easier to apply in branch if an advisor is available to see you.

    What do the avn do?

Not unless we look on a report that we don't use any more officially.
