Have you checked your equifax report?

If you have a clear credit file on both experian and equifax on your next application you may want to appeal.

I would recommend opening your account in branch rather than online so the branch can help you with your appeal.

The 4 the bank was referring too is very good in RBS Group Terms. The risk bands go from 10 - 1, 10 being the worst and 1 being the best.

The thing is with basic accounts you can not upgrade they have to be completed a new application.

You probably could have got a better account. Run your cash account for 6 months then apply for an upgrade, you can do this online or in branch. I plan on doing this myself at some point :)

  • Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the really great advice I'm getting, want you to know that it means a lot to me :) I'm thinking about doing an online application just now so I can see what happens and Jen? if I'm turned down for that then I too will be joining you at Lloyds TSB in six months to talk about that upgrade to my account :)

    Hi,

I really appreciate this information, could you go one better and give me a rundown about what each score means? Could you give me a better idea of what the number 4 actually stands for if possible? I've heard this mentioned a lot of times in my dealings with the bank and they've always wanted me to upgrade to a Royalties account or preferably the Royalties Gold. I haven't actually done an Equifax report, just the Experian as that told me all I wanted to know and put my mind at rest in knowing there's nothing wrong with my financial records and no fraud etc has been commited using my details. I spoke with an advisor in branch just after I was declined last time and the young lady said that they must take into consideration my credit report if I give them a copy of this and she said that if I'd done that and it showed there was nothing negative there then I'd almost certainly have been accepted.

the 4 must be good / average

what i have been told by friends if you go towards the 8 - 10 then the account use to be looked after by a special section.

Its just a behaviour score of how your account has been managed.

Its better than mine its a 5 at the moment ;-)

Bare in mind that different CRAs hold different data so it might be worth you checking out your Equifax report too.
