Orange being unfair

I'm with Orange and have 2 contracts with them. I moved to a new flat, and only get signal if I'm outside my front door or by the window. So I called them and they then switched me to a shared network with T-mobile saying it would get better, which It DIDNT!! So I called them back today for some advice or help. The person i spoke to was so rude and said they cant do anything. I want to terminate my contract but still have another few months left on it. My husband is with orange and has the same problem. Can anyone help, and give advice of what I can/should do?

Old story....if you move, its not network's fault if you move to a new location....you can terminate it....just have to pay off the rest of the contract (minus some vat saving).

This question has been asked previously on MSE and the answer is always the same.

Its not the networks fault you have moved and cannot get a signal where you are now living. You would have been able to receive a signal where you were previously living and would have accepted the service.

They are a mobile service and not a fixed line service and cannot guarantee mobile reception in every location. If you were to move to an alternative area, which is only be outside your flat, you are able to get a signal.
  • Common question on these boards and the answer for you is unfortunately not a great deal.

The networks won't guarantee signals inside buildings, and indeed you get signal outside but not inside (lead flat :p ). It can of course be down to the building- I go no signal at my old work but full signal outside and near the walls!

No signal on T-Mobile or Orange isn't great, have you tried manually changing your phone to T-Mobile (or T-Mobile Orange as it might be listed) to see if that helps?

You can phone them and ask for a settlement figure to pay up the contracts and move networks. If 2 of the major networks have no signal in your place you might want to be careful others are not similarly poor (and no T-Mobile means no Virgin Mobile) so try PAYG sims in your phones first! Other than that not a lot unless anyone else has ideas?
  • Well I should have just taken the offer when I spoke to them last week of them taking some money off the line rental each month, but they said to try the shared network thing with T mobile first. Which did not work. They also said a mass has gone down which will go up on the 24th of october. But they've said that before, for my work place, which is Ealing west london. They took a bit off the line rental then. I think its who you speak to.
  • From experience, ignore everything Orange say. They are rude, belittling and not bothered. The contract is now concrete, so you can only brake it by paying off the remaining months.

I pay very little per month because I receive 40% discount through work, and still they were unwilling to help (cancel contract or transfer me to T Mobile completely).

Ended up buying a blackberry out of my own pocket (even though they promised to give me one, then flat out called me a liar) and using UMA technology, which uses your broadband/wireless internet to boost the signal.
