and it can't happen here?0

It will get worse. If the flats do not sell at the new knock-down price, the next stage is for them to be sold as a job lot to a social housing provider and then she may be the only owner occupier in a block full of chavs on benefits. Couldn't possibly happen here though.0

mmmmmmmm sorry I have no sympathy for these kind of people if the shoe was on the other foot they would be shouting from the rooftops at what a wonderful deal they got, lifes tough end of.................................
Anyone who would spend half a million euro on a flat needs their bumps read anyhow"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
"Yesterday the bill for the management fee came in. It is for €1,600 – another figure I carefully choose to ignore back then. And come December 7th, I will probably have a property tax on top of this."
It never ceases to amaze me how blinkered people become when they want/need something so bad......0 -

Not stereotyping are we? Why do people jump to conclusions with Social Housing?
I know plenty of homeowners who are filthy, their homes are filthy and their behaviour is filthy so why highlight Social housing tenants?......There are good and bad in all so why assume ?0 -
People came under enormous family pressure to 'get on the property ladder'. I did, and I'm luckily old enough to remember the last crash. It must be very difficult for a 20-something with no such memories to give in and buy regardless of cost.0

Yeah but she didn't the only reason she is in this flat is because her parents helped to buy it I would also put money on the "look what I've got" attitude that she probably had as well, so now she is facing what she deserves
Dont mean to sound heartless but at 20 something spending half a million euros on a flat that your parents have had to put money towards is well ridiculous and now she has well and truly got what she deserved.........................................
ANd your point about social landlords is quite frankly ridiculous, the likes of your goodself is the very reason why the future generation that really matters cannot get onto the property ladder at all, social landlords now house hundreds if not thousands of what should be first time buyers that just cannot get onto the property ladder to buy their first modest home all because of a very greedy part of the population.
I think to a certain extent when it comes to property this recession is great why do I think such a thing? Well there are many reasons but mainly it will finally give first time buyers a fighting chance of getting on the property ladder.
Another thing it will iron out once and for all are the very "chavs" you refer to who bought their council homes and then sold them and made a good few quid, these people and I know a few of them should not have the money they have now, plain and simple so hopefully this recession will iron out this part of society as well, oh and along with the "fools" who got thousands and thousands of pounds in secured loans thinking the value of their property was going to continue to climb.
When did these people think it was all going to come to an end? Did they really think that one day their 2 up 2 down terraced house was going to be worth a million quid??
This for me is the one good thing that may well come out of this recession, all the greedy BTL people may well probably end up being brought back down to earth with a mighty bang as well, bring it on I say the quicker the better!
What goes around comes around Bristolpilot lets all hope you dont end up cap in hand asking for one of these "chav" social house..........."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

HA tenants in general have 2 eyes,1 mouth and 2 ears very much like most other human beings.
Being a homeowner doesn't give you better manners, higher morals and even more money than a tenant...
Really you should get out more and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.............I know it must be quite shocking for you to find out but we hoover daily, eat home cooked food and yes even work 55 hrs a week....:D
EDIT:Ok I admit take-away once a week.......0
