02 Insurance on my own mobile phone!?

Hi, excuse the title, wasnt quite sure how to word it!

I have a rolling 30 day contract with 02.
I have 600 mins, unlimited texts and free 02-02 and landline calls.
I also pay £5 a month insurance through 02.
I have a Nokia N97 Mini.

I have just been given a HTC desire phone which is a business BT phone that was spare from my fathers business.
I would like to use this phone now but not sure if 02 will change over the insurance to cover the new phone as it wasnt through them. I was 12/18 month contract with them for 5 years until they told me this march that to stay on my current tariff I would need to pay £10 more each month and wasnt willing to give me the iphone 3gs for less than £45 a month with a huge charge up front (cant remember what it was now) so I stuck with my then phone, Nokia N95 and went onto a simplicity tariff 30 day for £20, my insurance was carried over. I made a claim due to cracked screen and was given N97 mini. This was 2 months ago.
So is it possible to get the insurance changed over to HTC desire on same contract even tho it has not come from 02?

Most network will only cover the handset they give you and won't transfer the cover. You could call and ask, but I'm 99% sure they'll say no. Maybe you could add it to your home cover ?

Will look into the house insurance and see what can be done :-)
