Old Sky Box's vs BT/Virgin vs Humax Freesat

I finally cancelled my sky account last month after my phone line rental/broadband/TV bill went north of £90.
I have sky multi-room with one Sky HD box and one Sky + box. Cancellation date is next week I'm trying to work out which route to go down.
As far as Im aware I can keep the old sky boxes and pay £10 a month to have the sky + functionality.
Or get a couple of Humax HDRs and a seperate broadband/landline deal.
Or sign up to a BT/Virgin tv/phone/broadband deal.
Has anyone done anything similar?

I'd go the Humax route-why pay Mr Murdoch even a tenner a month, he doesn't need it.
Go to https://www.samknows.com and see what your LLU options are for broadband and phone.
If you are trying to save money post Sky, signing up with VM or BT Vision seems like a crazy idea-and there are much better provider of broadbands than BT or VM.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thank you. I've just ordered a refurb Humx HDR (£179.99 from their website) and I've signed up to plusnet broadband.
Should save myself a fortune!0
