Oh I give up....I really do.

OU was not a choice for me, it was the ONLY option if I wanted to retrain, purely because I am a single parent and my children are disabled.

My constraints may have been different but I didn't have a choice, for me, Uni was impossible either on a full time or part time basis because of the needs of my children.

So I have done what I can to retrain and obtain my degree within those constraints and the bonus is that if I do find myself in a position of finally finding employment which fits in to the care needs of my boys, I can still study.

Please can you ask this question regarding mortgage payments and JSA for lone parents.
I am a lone parent currently in receipt of income support including £200 per month payment for mortgage interest/housing costs. I am shortly to be moved onto JSA due to my childs age.
The problem is that JSA only covers mortgage interest for a maximum of 2 years and although I hope to find work when my son goes to school there is the worst case scenario that I may still be unemployed in 2 years time. Therefore I assume my payments will be stopped and I will have to rent, and sell my house. (The property is in negative equity so there is no capital to be released.)
This means the government will be paying out almost 4 times more, to myself and the thousands of other lone parents with mortgages. Is there another way that the goverment can look at mortgage interest payments/jsa as surely its is much cheaper paying mortgage interest rather than paying rents - and therefore save the state valuable funds?
