I'm just not daft enough to believe that FOSS means more secure.

*sigh*.. its stupid comments like those people get annoyed with. Researching the net shows that 50% of people think OS is more secure, and 50% think its less. So its obviously not right or wrong, yet you'll still call people daft...

Have your own opinion, fine, but no need to sound like a meany expressing it...

    Processor is AMD-K6 3D

ASAIK this is an obsolete chip, and I never thought AMD were as good as Intel. Firefox runs much faster than IE on my computer (Intel Pentium 4). I don't seem to receive as much spam either.

I hardly think that has got anything to do with it. Since going to IE as my default from Firefox I now get ZERO spam. But I'd never say it was because IE prevents me getting more spam, it has nothing to do with it, just similar timing and other factors to consider.

I have a new PC running Vista and I am having trouble accessing a lot of sites with Firefox. Although I prefer Firefox, I have now made IE my default browser because of this. Is there a problem with Firefox and Vista?

    outlook makes a difference yes

Just go straight to outlook from the START menu or whatever

Just so your aware though, if you ever change your broadband supplier then youll probably lose all your emails. Id suggest opening up a free GOOGLEMAIL account or suchlike which you can keep forever and use ANY computer to sign into it. You can even use google bookmarks to save ALL bookmarks and use them on ANY computer
