Perhaps, but it's a place that we are looking for, not a person. As far as I am concerned, the ideal thing would be if we could find a house or pub or something in the area that is supposedly haunted by someone connected to a rebellion.0

hi,
I don't know if this is any help but might be Spolier highlight below to view.
Pluckley in the borough of Ashford is called the most haunted village in britain. and it does seem to say at least 50 of cade's followers came from there
or we have Hothfield near ashford where it is said Jack cade was finally caught up with and mortally wounded he died on the way to london.
hope i've came up with something useful

I
I hope that it will help if I summarise how we have reached where we are now. Many thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far. Especially Reniannen, who had solved it before I was even started.
I will use spoilers, in case anyone wants to work it out for themselves.FROM WHERE THE ROYAL ARTHUR
SADLY LOST HIS HEART
Prince Arthur, (elder son of Henry Tudor, brother of Henry V111) died at Ludlow Castle on April 2nd, 1502. Prince Arthur's heart was buried at Ludlow.
GO DUE SOUTH TO TOURISM’S EARLY
START
South of Ludlow is Ross-On-Wye, which is where tourism in the UK was supposed to have started.
HERE A TWIN OUR NUDE SCENARIO
DOES REVEAL
IT’S ACROSS THE WATER WHERE
LIQUID APPLES APPEAL
Ross-On-Wye has three twin towns, one of which is
Conde-Sur-Noireau which is an anagram of 'our nude scenario'
Conde-Sur-Noireau is known for its cider.
NORTHEAST WHERE FORTITUDE

HERE A BOURGEOIS STATUE HOLDS

Calais is due NorthEast from Conde-Sur-Noireau. At Calais, there is a statue called Les Bourgeois de Calais.

From Calais, the Channel Tunnel train track runs NorthWest to Kent.
In Kent, there is a town called Ashford. Ash is a tree and a ford is shallow water. The motto of Ashford Borough Council is “With Stronger Faith”.
MORE THAN A WRAITH
OF A REBELLION’S SON WHO HAILED
FROM THIS PLACEThis is the part we are still debating.WHERE IS THE TREASURE?0 -
thanks marg, hope you don't mind, just some filling inIT’S ACROSS THE WATER WHERE
LIQUID APPLES APPEALConde sur Noireau might be known for it's cider but it's also in the Calvados region of Normandy from where the drink takes it's nameNORTHEAST WHERE FORTITUDE
HAPPILY CARRIED THE DAY
Operation Fortitude during WW2 successfully duped the Germans into thinking that the Normandy landings would be at Calais rather than NormandyI still think Ashford is correct even though I don't know what the wraith is. Apart from the first verse where it's made clear that each couplet refers to a different place, every other verse only leads to one location and the last verse isn't split like it leads to two different locations.0 -
Excellent summing ups marg and reniannan, tyvm.
The Wraith bit is a little confusing. esp as the clue reads 'MORE than a wraith'?Seeing the calvados bit, could the Wraith be this spirit? Wraith = not only Ghost but Spirit0 -
hmmmThe answer appears to be ASHFORD? but surely this is very vague? I wonder if could be a distillery we are looking for? maybe making a drink/brew named after cabe or some famous rebellion leader? Ive emailed them suggesting they include --- ---- ---- bits at the end in future! hope noone minds but they do ask for suggestions etc0

Thanks Reniannen. I did the summary in a bit of a hurry, working mostly from memory and I forgot those bits.
My own feeling is that each couplet is entirely separate, so I don't think that the last couplet will link back to alcohol at all.
In the whole of the rest of the poem, there is hardly a superfluous word; everything seems to link in, so I find it strange that we cannot find out what the wraith bit is.0 -
hi everyone just to say the answer to last months is already up
and the new clues are out.
Plus on the members page when you sign in, it now says it will be FREE for now and they are also making the clues harder and the final destination of the treasure more clear.
didn't know weather i should have started a new thread or put it here.2011 wins. Trivial pursuit card game
