Its always difficult to comment on a job that you have'nt seen, I cover Artex ceilings all the time and its a simple task that takes me roughly 4 hours from arriving at the house to leaving and thats any size ceiling up to 25m2 (which is max for me on my own) for that I charge about £170, if its damaged in any area then that part is just repaired as you correctly stated (cut out damaged area and replace with new) and as Ormous stated you never unless a last resort pull the ceiling down, you will not beleive the mess that this causes, I always overboard but only if the majority of the ceiling is in poor condition which by the sounds of it does'nt apply to yours, always go by recomendation if poss, if not get 3 quotes, good luck

16m2 will need around 7 2400x1200 boards, plus one board to patch up the damaged area before overboarding.

should only take one day £150


rounded to a nice even number i would charge at £220ish if i was on my own doing this. £550 is A LOT of money to be paying for a ceiling that big. Id think twice before paying that
