cheers, the BIG trouble is that it takes ages to get the stereo out,not just a straight forward push in pull out, apparently you need to take half the dash apart, hence the audio guy saying 55 quidI

If the car has a timing chain, I'm hazarding a guess that you're driving a K11 Micra. In which case yes, you need to take the panel off, not the whole dash but the middle bit surrounding the radio, blower controls etc, but it's dead easy and will take about ten minutes to get the thing off, get the radio out, write down the code and put it all back together again. Instructions here. It's actually a lot more straightforward than for lots of cars, you don't need special release keys to get the radio out.0

** Inside info ** I used to work on dealership computer systems theres a number of them and they are all rather crap to be fair.
The radio codes came with the consignment note usually and there was a field to enter it in. If it wasn't entered then the dealership would have to contact Nissan for it and guess what ... they were also charged for it.
So the only places you would get it are
1) the card that came with the vehicle
2) The original dealership (assuming they did things right)
3) Nissan via the Dealership network / direct in some cases.0 -
In order to get the radio code the dealer will need to remove the radio and submit all the numbers off the back to nissan. If you can get all the numbers i'll submit the info for you no problem. The problem is as some people have mentioned to remove the radio is a pain in behind hence the labour charge to dissasemble and re assemble the dash. If in doubt post all the numbers on the back if you get it out.
Timing chain only causes a problem if the vehicle is not serviced according to schedule.0 -
Cheers Scuttsy will PM when we get it outI
