  • Hi
Just finished a contract at Hays where 10% of my hourly rate was deducted as holiday pay on each weekly payslip and a higher rate if i worked overtime.
I finished 3 weeks ago and awaiting P45.Ihave received my holiday on the hours accrued would I normally pay tax again on the amount as I was taxed when they deducted it from my hourly rate?

    Thanks

agencies charge approx 2.5-3 times what the hourly rate is you are paid.

3rd party umbrella companies can be real hassle, bad ones are really bad, personally i'd say steer clear of MAXIPAY

If you are employed holdipay is a right, its that simple, how it is calculated is in the WTD, if you opt out then they can calculate how they like so long at its inline with the ERA.

the job should of been advertised as 12.50per hour PAYE

    or £14 selfemployed

Agencies should provide a service, but most of them fail, all the consultants are on commision for getting as many people in placements as possible, do they really care about how you are paid, nope.

Recruitment is big business, extracting money out of the system that would be far more benficial finding its way into workers wages IN MY OPINION.
  • When I temped for a national agency, I was paid at the rate advertised but holiday was accrued. I received the accrued holiday pay in my final payslip from the agency when I eventually went perm with the company.

You weren't taxed on the amount deducted (for holiday pay) as this was taken off your gross pay, so the answer is yes, you will pay tax when you receive your holiday pay as you have not yet paid tax on it.

Hi, can someone please tell me how holiday pay is calculated on an hourly temporary rate?

I need to be able to calculate the difference between offers being made when one agency is quoting hourly rate plus holiday pay and the other is hourly rate including holiday pay.

    Hope you can help.

The statutory minimum holiday entitlement works out at 12.07% of hours worked.
