Hi..
My laptop has stopped charging and its really starting to get to me now...
basically you push the charger into the little hole and it registers the mains supply for a couple of seconds but then goes back to the battery. I've tried different chargers so I know its a problem with the laptop but its not under warrenty and i haven't got shed loads of money to be spending on it right now..
does anyone know if there's anything i can do myself or somewhere that won't charge me an arm and a leg to look at it and fix it ? i really do think its got something to do with the little pin inside the hole as if you move the charger around sometimes it picks it back up again and if i apply enough pressure on it, sometime, but only like 5% of the time, it will charge..
any ideas would be greatfully appreciated right about now but it ends up out the window..

sounds like whats called a dry joint on the power connector inside the laptop,
Basically the solder has cracked and not making a connection so when like you say wiggle the connector its starts charging again,
As itsnot under warranty you have nothing to lose by opening it up and re-soldering the contacts where they join the powwer board,
Hoperfully this will cure the problem.0 -
thanks for the info.. think i'll look around to see if anyone with a bit more experience will do it for me.. me and soldering irons just don't go lol0

i'm not saying that is definately the problem, but i will be a good place to start considering your symptoms0

thats cool.. just checked with someone else and they've recommended the same :O( 6 hour job so i'm told...0

hopefully that is not a pc repair shop that's quoted 6hrs,
especially if they get paid by the hour.
if it's what we suspect then i would say 2hrs tops,0 -
well i started to take the laptop part to see if there was anything obvious that needed fixing but got as far as remving the fans and heat sync for the processor but couldn't seem to get anywhere near the power connector :O( seriously looks like i'm going to have to pay to get it fixed :O( not happy0

is it by any chance a pavilion zv6000? cos I have the same problem, I thought it was the cable , I was really hoping that it's not a problem with inside the laptop, even though it's under warranty, I really don't want to lose it to be repaired, even for a few hours.cd02 wrote:hp p***** something lol i haven't got it with me at the mo.. it was from pc world.. why you ask ?0 -
