It is possible to do these checks if you're female - no need to wait for a "hubby" to do them!

    Nitpicking and very unhelpful

Another vote for cleaning out the 'cyclones'. I had exactly this problem and after a Google search found instructions for getting access to the cyclones and gave them a really good clean - even pushing wire through each hole to make sure it was clean.

The difference was incredible - we had no idea how much suction had been lost over the years.

Got to say we've had a dyson for about 8 years and its coped with cleaning up aftr a year of building work. Its finally just about packed in and OH has just bought a Henry for £97 from John Lewis which comes with a 2 year guarantee instead of paying for Dyson to look at it. I'll be trying to ressurect the Dyson when I get a chance but its lasted well considering.

Get it repaired for much less than £70 here: http://www.manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/dyson-service-repair.html

Or they also have a forum you can ask about it here: http://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/

Still have my Dyson DC01 going strong after 15 years or so. I clean the filters regularly - but that's about it.

Same here, as said earlier, replacing the filters sees the unit good once more.
I use an electrolux to vac the car though
