I was just wondering what number do i ring to appeal basically i am on a weekly sign on thing but my main one is every 2 weeks i had an interview last week and the lady told me to come and see her again in 2 weeks and that my sign ons had changed this made me think that i did not have to go to my weekly sign on anymore just to my main one every 2 weeks so i missed one of my weekly signs ons i got a letter saying if i did not explain why by a certain date then money would be stopped so i rang up explained that i had got it wrong they told me they would sort it out but now they are taken a weeks payment off me even though the job centre had said no further action would be taken because i rang up before the date set so basically that time i rang up was not even recorded by the person i spoke to.

Agree dmg24.
WBA FAN 12, you're asking for people's help, make it easy on them, add a bit of punctuation and be polite.

Punctuation helps people read the issue. Without it, it is difficult to understand exactly what went on. It is very important hense why we use it.0 -

Ok, so you don't really care about punctuation? Why does it matter?
Here it is from my point of view. I've had a massive brain injury, and it has affected how I see things visually, so without full stops and capital letters, my brain can't tell me when to pause during the reading of your post, so it comes across as one big jumble of words.
I'm not without intelligence, and I have a lot of information stored in my brain, but visually I need the punctuation to help me digest the information written down. I'm not the only person affected by this, and many people use special software to help them to read what's on screen, and that doesn't read as it should without punctuation.
This forum is here to help people with all sorts of problems, including yourself, and a little thought before you post will go a long way in getting people to help you.
In answer to your post, the best way to get this sorted out is to make an appointment with the job centre, and explain what's happened. If this is not an option for you, then you could write to the job centre instead.0 -
The letter you are talking about tells you that if you do not contact the office within five working days that the Jobcentre will close your claim, NOT that they will be able to accept your reasons for not attending as straightforward. The JCP ask you for those reasons, record them and then refer the information to a Decision Maker, who then decides whether you had a 'good enough' reason to not attend the interview. If you have now been stopped a weeks money, the DM has obviously decided that your reasons were not good enough and has imposed a weeks sanction. To appeal, you need to complete a form GL24, which you can obtain from your JCP. However, if you are only going to repeat the information that you have already told them, it is probably not worth doing this, as the DM will have already taken into account the information you originally gave for not attending.0

I'm afraid the number of sanctions have rocketted in the last few weeks. I think it's the governments way of saving money. It's really easy punishing jobseekers because they have no voice and very little sympathy from the general public.
Jobcentres have been given targets to reach on sanctions so be warned. IF you miss another appointment they will sanction you for TWO weeks.
Don't let the bar-stewards get you down.0 -
Call in the jobcentre and ask for a copy of the 'decision', there may be questions attached which they want you to answer. If there are no further questions and you have nothing to add to your original statement, you can ask for a 'verbal explanation' of the sanction. This will be a call to you from the person who actually judged your case and decided to sanction you.
Good luck mate.0 -
A target for sanctions? Its only what we suspected for several weeks. Yes they have rocketted recently -and for spurious reasons in the main. So much human suffering out there.Any idea what the target is?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

I'm surprised a sanction was received. It appears the situation warrants an allowance or a disallowance, but not a sanction.
I suggest you appeal as the decision is erroneous in law. Visit your job centre and request form GL24. Alternatively, as suggested earlier, request a detailed explanation and tell the person explaining that the decision is erroneous in law and should be a disallowance not a sanction.0
