... when I click on administrator in my router, then to change password ...
It sounds like you are trying to change the router's configuration password rather than the wireless passkey.
Are you going to the right page on the router set up? You should be on the Wireless Setup page(or something like that) in the router interface ( http://192.168.1.254 )
What OS are you using (XP, Vista, W7) and what model Speedtouch is it?0 -
Hi bluboy, thanks for reply. Totally confused now.I think you are correct .Using Vista premium.576v6 router. In the router interface using the link you give, have used the same one. When I go to wireless access point,it gives encryption key, I must have chosen it when I changed router 9 months ago ;The one I am concerned about is the wireless one.I am still unsure if my router is WPA" compatable, because, on configure page, WPA2 is listed on dropdown menu.I have WPA PSK at present.I cannot find the wireless password change anywhere.Only PW change is if I click on Admin, is this the configuration PW I am trying to change. Seem to have got myself totally confused.:beer:It sounds like you are trying to change the router's configuration password rather than the wireless passkey.

Here's a guide - Configuring the 576 Wireless Security
Make sure you read it through first as there's an important bit at the end -
I would practice first with a simple key (e.g. abcde12345) until you are comfortable that you are doing it right.if you are connected wirelessly while you are entering this information you will lose your connection once the change has registered. You will need to reconnect and enter the security id
Then change it to something more substantial.0 -
Thanks , I,ll check it out, see what happens and let you know.Much appreciated:beer:Here's a guide - Configuring the 576 Wireless Security

Hi bluboy, checked it out and found I had configured correctly ,key pretty safe,if one can say that;;was tempted to try changing to WPA2 which is listed on dropdown list, istead of WPA-PSK, It does not state on bottom of router WPA2, just WPA-PSK, do you think I should try it? What harm can it do? I would have thought that ,if it,s on list, it would be compatable.thanks very much for info, put my mind at rest about secure key.cheersHere's a guide - Configuring the 576 Wireless Security
