Also having a major cleaning drive as estate agent coming tomorrow to value.

Other tasks to do today get car booked in for MOT and go and renew my advert to readvertise the rental house from Jan. (Tenants only moved in Sept - it comes round so quick in student land.)

You have lots going on. Great news about the new family home, I hope you can sell yours without too much hassle. Good luck with letting extra room too, nice potential OP there.

When you do the maths and see how soon you could become MF it really spurs you on to find x amount in OP's doesn't it.

Going to see our new house tomorrow, as the insurance states we need to visit it weekly until we complete, we exchanged on auction day (as that's protocol with auctions.) Think it's a bit weird but good opportunity to plan colour schemes, furniture see what work needs doing etc.

Think that's just insurance rules on empty houses. MIL has inherited a house and she was also told to visit weekly and record visits for insurance purposes.

We get the keys to our new home two weeks today, would never have imagined a year ago that we could achieve our forever family home.

Been looking at remortgages, and because the house is going to be owned cash outright whilst we sell our home, we can mortgage to it's actual value rather than the auction price (have to wait six months, and go through a survey). However brokers are looking at 50% LTV deals.

Again who would have thought a year ago we would be gifted at least £50K of equity.

Think new mortgage will be arou
nd £130,000 so not bad on a forever home.

I can't believe how well you've done, Sarah. You must be so excited, although moving is such hard work!!

Well had estate agents round to value current house, with a view to putting it on the market early next year.

It has lost about £20,000 in the three years we have owned it (local market conditions.) Also we have spent £10,000 on it which we won't get back.

So it's a good job we got a good deal on our new house.

Certainly hasn't been worth buying these past five years, as the interest on our mortgage has also been more than local rent levels for the first 4 years

Anyway you live and learn, and there's the fees involved with renting, stability for the girls etc etc.

We get the keys a week tomorrow and it has made me reflect on the last five years in this house. We moved here 27th Nov 2007, and move on 20th Nov 2012 so pretty much five years.

So much has happened, mostly good but also some pretty rubbish as well. I'm sad to go in a lot of ways as this is our first home together we were only 22 when we bought it and so much has changed in the last five years.

I'm excited though too and know how lucky we are, we've got the dream forever home at 27/28 and not many can say that.

Also surprised in RL how many people have been genuinely happy for us, especially old school and uni friends, who have always known all I ever wanted was my own, fully paid for home.

Looking forward to sharing the next chapter.

    We get the keys tomorrow:j:j:j

Very exciting, keep driving past (so I can have a look) but also to get the girls ready for moving.

DD1 not very well again, there seems to be a lot of coughs and colds going round.

Went furniture shopping today and assess what we need. We are decorating before moving in, so planning to get the girls bedrooms sorted and then have a big reveal to help them get used to a new house.

Our house has a lot of problems, it's not very pretty, has a sloping steep plot, loads of steps to garden etc (but for the girls its the only home they have ever known.)

That should be mandatory - saves SUCH a lot of stress :D. Hope it goes well :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
