    get the new 4gb slim with fifa11 from tesco.. £155..

    use a £10 off code so £145..

    then sell fifa 11 to cex for £30..

    total = £115

    if he gets on with it can always add a hard drive to it later on, either buy a normal pc one or get an old 360 60/120 gb one..

    People are reporting alot of problems with the new ones, also they are only quieter if you copy the game to the hard drive which you could do with the old one anyway.
    .

    Absolute poppycock. The reliability issues that are being reported is because the muppets are too stupid to work out the hot air is vented from the top (laid down) or side (stood up) and not the back like the old ones so they're deliberately causing the problem.

    They are far far quieter than the original one, even without copying the games to the HDD as most of the noise of the original one was the cooling fans. We've not got any games I'm aware of that have copied to the HDD as its only the new releases that do AFAIK. Still can barely hear it in gameplay or playing back DVDs compared to the cyclonic vacuum cleaner noise of the first gen.

    The 250Gb is available from Tescos for £180. Not tried it yet though as I bought it for a present.

    Lucky you. My disc tray is as noisy as hell if you are playing Red Dead Redemption (in particular) but others too are bad. If you place your hand on top you quieten the rattle but it isn't whisper quiet.

    I still cannot believe the heat that comes out the side. An XBox could heat the room! :rotfl:
