LLoyd's TSB regular saver account

Hi fellow MSEr's

My wife and I would like to open a regular saver account with LLoyd's TSB. Do we need to have a separate current account to open one or we could have a joint account and both open a separate regular saver account? Thanks in advance.

for the regular saver account you do not need to have a Lloydstsb current account.

**edit** when your in the branch the staff will try there hardest to get you to open a current account, stick to your guns!!

you would have no problems if both yourself and your partner wanted to open seperate accounts.

My understanding on Martin's article is that I need to open a current account with them before I would be eligible to open their regular saver account.

You have to open up a Lloyds Current Account but you can fund it from any account you like once its open.

    Hi Guys,

My wife and I went to our local Lloyds TSB branch and open a joint classic current account and then open a separate monthly saver account.

The lady in the branch then set up a standing order from the classic current account that we open. I then ask if we can set up a standing order on different current account? She then said "NO and that SO should come out from this classic account."

This is the Monthly Saver T & C that I've signed:

    To apply:
-you must be 16 and over;and
-have your main current with Lloyds TSB. Your main current account is the current account you use most often for your everyday banking. If you don't use your LTSB current account as your main current account we can convert your Monthly Saver to a Guaranteed Tracker( or similar account if that account is no longer available).

Does this mean that it can only be operated on their current account? Any advise greatly appreciated.

No, the person who opened your account is wrong. The LTSB monthly saver can be fed from an external current account. Lot's of MSE's already feed their monthly savers in this way. There is no stipulation in the terms and conditions that prohibits an external current account being used.

The terms and conditions you've signed seem to be the old version. They were revised last month. Even so, even the old T&C's didn't prohibit an external current account being used to make monthly payments to the LTSB monthly saver.

Kazza thanks. As what I have said that's what it shows on the T & C that I have signed so was a bit concerned that it might have changed.

I still need to come back to put in my opening deposit ( hoping to put in the maximum £500) and would clarify again and might also ring their customer service.

I've just set up my monthly saver & was also told that it has to be funded from the classic current account. I've had to set up a standing order from my Halifax account to the classic account, from where they'll take the money for the monthly saver......what a palova
