Hi all
Not a happy chappy today! Santandare have completed their takeover of RBS and Natwest, I have happily banked with RBS for a long time but no more
my accounts are being moved over to a Spanish bank on their terms which will put 1.8 Million UK bankers out of pocket, This transfer will happen in the next 12 - 18 months and i want out before that time comes, Ive been looking in to Nationwide as they seem the most promising UK bank, can anyone suggest where i should move to? what are your dealings with the other banks? good and bad?
P.S If anyone suggests the Halifax i shall hunt you down and wash your mouth out with a bar of soap! :rotfl:
Thanks
Rob

Just to clear up, they are NOT taking over RBS/Natwest completely, they are taking over Natwest branches in Scotland, and RBS branches in England (with the exception of one branch). If you are in England and have RBS accounts either move them to a Scottish branch, or switch to Natwest.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

If you are happy with RBS you can transfer your account to a scottish branch and remain with themDebts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my Debts

That's an awful lot of bankers to be losing their bonuses.0 -
Hi all,
Yeh im aware i can stay with RBS but i dont want to be based in Scotland, its a bit of a trip to go in to my branch for a review! I live in doncaster and would like to remain with a british and locally based bank, Halifax, Lloyds, Natwest, RBS are all out of the question for me, Ive been considering Nationwide or HSBC as they seem to be leading the way with acceptable banking......(if there is such a thing these days), thanks for the thred links, ill read them tonight when i have more time
Rob
Onlypaddy......... The soap is coming for you, i wont say where or when but its comming.......0 -
if you need to go to a branch then you can choose HSBC. Natwest will give you the same sort of products as RBS, have branch and uk call staff.
As I have said to people before. Which upsets them it would seem. You need to work out what you want from a bank and then pick them.
First direct are good, depending on salary outgoings etc.
I wouldnt go near Nationwide they seem to be getting a bit upset. Co Op fund the labour party so I am not a fan of them, thats a bit personal.0 -

Maybe it something to do with the govt takeover of them. Which is why the banks are out of the picture.
I would have thought that Lloyds will be allowed to keep the black horse.
Unless the Eu want him to run the national or something. Maybe a little directors day at Ascot.0
