itsyourview surveys... i'm annoyed

I have been receiving surveys by email for ages from these people and this time i've had it!

I just started doing a survey - I must have answered 20 Qs, Asking personal details and I'm SURE they got the relevant information for their market research. I spent about 15 mins giving them all this info... under the impression i'd be getting this £5 (not that I have ever been paid from them before!), only to be told, we have enough people with your profile GRRRRRRRRRRRRR wouldn't they already know this if they had bothered looking at my profile before sending the thing OR actually looking at the first few questions i had answered instead of leading me all the way through the survey!!!!!

Here's what i've emailed them anyway:

I am getting aggrivated that I keep spending up to 15 mins of my time answering your questions in your surveys giving out what I believe to be valuable information for market researchers, only to be told I am not suitable and subsiquently, I don't get payment that is promised for completing the surveys (even though I had already answered many questions for you anyway).

Why could you not see that I was not suitable from my profile that I have already provided when I signed up.

I find it highly dubious that after I answer about 10-20 questions about which brand names I am aware of etc etc etc and suddenly I am not suitable! Surely I would have been unsuitable after the first few questions, such as, what products do I already buy, asking for my postcode and age.

I am beginning to think you are scamming me. You are getting the information you need, but not paying out for it. I have spoken to many other members of itsyourview who are beginning to believe the same, since they have never successfully completed a survey (even after giving out a LOT of details, including personal details)

I am tempted to get legal advice on this issue.

Regards,

MADAM RA* (I put my real name!)

Has anybody actually got paid anything from these surveys? I believe it must be a minimal selection of people since they are getting away with asking so many questions without paying the majority.

RANT over! I'd just be interested to find out if it is just me, and i'm just really unlucky and never get selected!

I read another post the other day that someone had sent a similar email to one of the survey companies and they appologised and funded her account. So good luck.
  • This kept happening to me with Ciao so I've given up filling them in now. I havent signed up with itsyourview and don't feel inclined to now.

  • I'm registered with a few but not this one. I got a payout from ciao but it took forever as I had a similar problem with them & I'm thinking of dropping them now.

The only one I've never had a survey that I "wasn't eligible for" is YouGov but they don't send out as many surveys as others so it can take a while to build up to the payout amound.

pm me for a link if you're interested.

I've joined quite a lot of these survey sites. Also, as I have two e mail addresses, I've registered twice with some using my Mum's address. Right now in my purse I've got £35 in vouchers for Debenhams, £15 for Argos and £10 for Boots. Of course, you can't make a living out of it, but if you have the time - and you really do need lots of time - it can lead to some nice little perks.

Juicy Brains isn't bad, think I've had about £27 off of them, but over quite a period of time. MyTNS gives you Nectar points, so far I've had around 2,000 points, again, over a period of time. Lightspeed Panel give you points, which I think you can covert to iPoints - just got a set-top-box from them for the bedroom. Global Testmarket are a bit slow with the old points, still not got the 1,000 necessary to get whatever it is I can get! Been registered with them since August last year. Lightspeed Panel used to be quite good, had around 50 quid in vouchers from them to spend in Boots. Then there's Test and Vote, and I got on their shopping thingy too - I scan all my shopping then plug it into usb on pc and their site downloads barcodes. Just registered for another one of those (invited to) but it's really, really time consuming - have to scan price, whether it was on offer, sliced, unsliced, born, white, large, small blooming loaf! Ruddy great scanner that you have to plug into phoneline and power socket. Good job they haven't realized that my STD code and my 'address' don't tally! Wouldn't really recommend that one unless you're really very bored indeed.

Can't really put a very accurate account of how much I've earned, but I only registered with most of them from last August onwards, after I was made redundant. I've maybe made a little over £350, if you include freebies, gifts, nectar points and some 30 quid in Amazon vouchers.

If anyone wants links I'll post them, but if you put names of sites into search engine you can usually find them. Come to think of it, I get points on some of them for recommending friends! But don't worry, I don't want to recommend all of Martin's database!!! Take me forever!

    So:

    Juicy Brains
    MyTNS
    Test&Vote
Zoom Panel (think this is one of the others that's changed it's name)
    Opinion World
    Opinion Health
    Ipsos
    QuickWise
Lightspeed (think they've cottoned on to the fact I've registered twice!)

    Good luck!

I joined itsyourview and got regular surveys at first and am up to £22.00 ... but its £50.00 before they pay out and I haven't had a survey through for about 6 weeks now so I think its unlikely I'll get to my £50 !!!

  • These seem like a lot of work for an unguaranteed small return, wouldn't some of you be better off doing a small p/t job once or twice a week instead? I work in a restaurant to subsidise main salary and can pull in some very decent (tax free :) ) tips along with my (taxed :( ) hourly rate.

    Exactly the same feelings here.

I hate it when the site wastes 5 minutes or more then says you do not qualify.

As others have said above in this thread, I also suspect they have got the information the survey sponsor wanted, and are just cheating us out of the money.

As soon as Greenfield took over Ciao I knew it would be complained about as a scam, they do not have a good reputation. I just delete most survey invitations from Ciao now, unless I guess there is a reasonable chance of not being rejected near the end.

I have to say I have managed to get a couple of surveys done and gradually the account is creeping up past the half way mark to the £5 payout. But it is a far cry from the good old days when the surveys were an integral part of the consumer review function that Ciao started with. More chance of reaching payout then, so I treat with cynicism the reason that Greenfield chopped the survey side out, makes it more difficult to reach payout on both sites now, so saving them money when people resign (before getting paid) because they finally realise they are being had.

Itsyourview is almost as bad for time wasting, I cannot recall doing more then the first joining survey right to the end for "£1", which if we never get any further paying surveys, will never be able to be claimed as it is under thepayout threshold of course.

I've got an account with itsyourview. The majority of them I'm not eligable for, but it only takes a few questions by them to see if I'm eligable or not. I've never spent 15 minutes before I was told I was ineligable. Sometimes you're only eligable for half the survey, so instead of paying you £5 (or what they promised), they only pay you some of it. I've noticed that before.

Oh i know how you feel! I wrote a similar post yesterday about Valued Opinions review site.

EVERY "pre-qualifying" survey i complete i get a sorry you do not qualify message which i get so annoyed with as these are very in depth questions.

YouGov although not very regular do not have these pre-qualifiers.

Best of luck with your message, let me know how you get on.

    Cheers,

  • Itsyourview have quite a high threshold for payout, but having said that I did get a cheque for £50 this year, so they do pay out in the end.

I find Lightspeed and mytns are the best, lightspeed lets you exchange points for paypal funding, but you can pay out from £1 so you don't have to wait forever. MyTNS give you nectar points, but if you don't qualify for a survey they give you 25 points for the trouble, so you at least get something for the trouble.
