Is the Lloyds TSB Cash Account a good choice?

Hi all,

After a thoroughly shocking experience with my bank today:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2790130

I decided to do something I should have done a longtime ago and I visited my local branch of Lloyds TSB and opened a Cash Account in less than 10 minutes, really fantastic in branch experience and I'm looking for a little more information on this account if possible? I don't require anything fancy from a bank account and that is why I chose the basic account as opposed to the standard current accounts they offer and I'm looking to hear from other people on whether or not I've made the right decision and if this is a good choice of accounts, thank you very much.

Lots of people on here rate the account, well from what I've read anyway.

Of course you may get a shonky "online" debit card and the account has no cheque book or overdraft facilities.

The problem with the LTSB cash account is that you cannot withdraw cash from non-LTSB cash machines. I think the Barclays Cash Card account is much better.

I have this account which I have alongside my natwest current account. I use it mainly for holiday savings/spends. I like it, the online banking is very good, however as another poster has pointed out, you can only withdraw money from a lloyds tsb cashpoint
Debt free and staying that way!

I have also just opened one of these too, applied for Classic but declined.
Am going to run alongside my existing Ad Gold account with Natwest, transfer money across for bills etc and pay via debit card.
Only did it to get a 'foot in the door' so to speak with another bank as very happy with Natwest in general.
Still waiting for PIN for card and took a total of 3 weeks for account to be fully set up but internet banking is good, opened a savings account instantly online, signed up for 'save the change' so will see how it all goes.
Have 2 defaults due to fall off next year so going to use the next 12 months to attempt to build some positive history on this account and hope for an upgrade of sorts.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I applied for the Cash Account this afternoon and it was literally opened in minutes, member of staff said I'd receive a few things in the post. I wish you luck in whatever happens next for you and who knows, maybe you'll get that upgrade you want :)

Always run a cash account with an easy saver.

The easy saver comes with a card which is free and you can use it at any cash point you wish!

    Good luck!

    Thank you very much!

I opened this account yesterday as I had a lot of problems with RBS but I've had time to think about things and I've accepted the bank have taken responsibility for their wrongdoing. I will, however, continue with my Cash Account as a sort of "backup" account and now that you've mentioned it I intend to open the Easy Saver too :)
