Just call George department & explain & they should remove it for you, it's not a dye tag - I used to work there on George - but I wouldn't try removing it yourself x

Or go to another shop and politely ask for it to be removed, im sure the question has been asked on here before

The security systems aren't as sophisticated as RFID or anything, it's quite possible if you go into a different shop you'll set off the alarms there too. Besides why would another shop do it? For all they know it might be stolen!
  • Also, if it was bought a few months ago, chances are that it isn't this seasons stock and they won't have that jacket on sale anymore.

That might make you feel a little better?

I still say the going into the shop in person without the jacket first is the best method - can't fail!
  • Hi.

Thanks again for all the advice. I promised that I would post back when the issue was resolved.

Basically, I called up and spoke to customer services and they said just come in and we will take it off, which is what I did.

All very painless, as many of you suggested.

I did have a chuckle when the security guard popped up like a jack-in-the-box as the alarm went off, and glared at two people who were leaving. :rotfl:

    Thanks again.

I havent laughed so much for ages, especially when I saw the instructables website http://www.instructables.com/id/Remove-a-security-tag-from-an-article-of-clothing/#step1 especially the bit where they advices using a discreet hammer, I can just see all shoplifters walking around with a hammer in there pockets.
