Anyway that aside, when you have sent/redeemed enough tokens they send you an application form in the post, saying you have prepaid membership for whichever level of cover you chose.
You get to specify on that form what date you want cover to start, so you may as well start applying now. Seems to take the RAC just over a week to process in my past experience.
The form has prepaid ordinary postage. They recommend you send it special delivery as cannot be replaced etc. I just photocopied the form first before sending it normally. If it's so crucial why don't they send the blank form to you by Special Delivery eh?
How long does it take for your membership stuff to come through to you? I posted mine off about 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing since. Took your advice and photocopied the form so at least I have that to use. Will probably call them up tomorrow if nothing in the post as need cover to start on the 3rd0 -

Roughly 2 weeks for mine.
Does anyone know if your cover continues from when your current one runs out (ie, 2005-2006 cover paid for direct to RAC, independently of tescos, runs out in December but tescos rac cards are through already). I stated on the Tesco/RAC form to start on a date in December but there's nothing in the pack stating when membership is from/to. Will give them a call but just wondering if anyone else came across this?0 -

I redeemed Tesco points for RAC form. I did not specify the start date. The form and Tesco terms and conditions state start date will be when RAC process your application.
I received letter from RAC on 16th Feb stating my membership started on 4th Feb - so I was unaware I was a member for 12 days! I rang RAC they said if I had joined through RAC I would have been given a temporary membership number to use but because I went through Tesco I did not, so they could do nothing. I rang Tesco they said that it is clearly stated that if you don't specify a start date then the start date is when RAC process your application. What they fail to mention is that there is a time delay of 12 days from when they 'process' your application and you receiving a letter notifying you that your membership has started.
In my opinion, Tesco should state that you get 353 days of RAC cover rather than 365 days.
In summary, if you do apply for RAC membership and want 365 days (seems reasonable as that is what they imply you will get) then SPECIFY A START DATE. If you do want it to start immediately, then don't specify a start date and keep ringing them until you get a start date from them.0 -
I have used RAC through Tesco and I specified a date for a about 10days after I sent it off. Pack through within a couple of days and ha no problems when I had to call them out after a breakdown. No problem at all and would recommend it :money:Wife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

I am always one for efficiency, but to bump a thread nearly five years old, is taking it a little too far.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
