Today I received a letter, dated 8th October 2010, from Arvato finance services ltd..as follows
"This letter is formal confirmation of the assignment to arvato services ltd of the debt outstanding on your EUPHONY account.
On 18th October 2010 your Euphony account was sold to arvato financial services ltd who are now the legal owners of the debt.
THIS MEANS THAT ARVATO FINANCE SERVICES LTD HAS BOUGHT THE RIGHT TO COLLECT THIS DEBT.
we are a debt recovery company and require you to contact us before 18th October 2010 to discuss the immediate repayment of this outstanding balance."
It goes on with details of how to pay..
What a disgraceful , threatening scam..What Euphony account..?
I think they`ve obtained stored data from an enquiry, some twenty or more years ago about Euphony , and will send a threatening letter in the hope I`ll simply pay up in fright..
Big mistake..!
Has anyone else received similar threats..?

I too have received a letter from this lot saying I am due £63.54 for a Peoples Phone account which I have never had in my life.
Do I waste my time replying to point this out or is this the wrong thing to do, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the best thing to do is ignore demands like these from companies you have never heard of.

I have also had a letter from this company for £130 for a so called debt to Granada TV Rental the last time we rented a TV was 24years ago what a laugh I called them and told them to sent me proof to which they replied we will try but if you do not hear from us in two weeks just forget it!!! I worked for Avarto they were not a great company and then it was mobile phones I think they should stick to them. I look forward to hearing from then NOT!!:rotfl:0

The letter was dated 8th October 2010 and they bought the debt on the 18th October 2010? :rotfl:
Sounds like chancers to me0 -
We don't owe any money, but Arvato Debt collecting left telephone no. 01482660511 to ring them. Does anyone know if this is a high bill telephone scam? should we ignore this message or let the police know? has anyone else had the same experience?0

It's a normal geographic number (Hull). But this number is not linked in any way with Arvato (that I can find).
Ignore it. Never respond to telephone messages relating to an alleged debt. Only deal in writing (so wait for them to write to you first).0
