£170 home computer - Morrisions

Well yesterday, i found a home computer whilst i was in Morrisions and it was only £170, its all in tact and it all works and everything.

1GB RAM
160GB Hard-drive
Monitor
Keyboard

and all the stuff that you would expect to come with a computer that costs £300+. So if your in morrisions and see it, buy it quick and sell it on ebay if you dont want it :)

If you sell it on Ebay you will be lucky to get £50 for it!

    1GB RAM - not good
    160GB Hard-drive - really poor
Monitor - I think this is standard when buying a PC
Keyboard - Again standard when buying a PC

I can't help thinking this is a wind up?

Sorry if I am wrong, maybe you genuinely think this is a good deal?
  • Yeah, that's really not a great deal, don't waste your money on that. If you want a home decent home computer you have to spend £300+ usually, anything else is pointless.

So a £170 PC isn't as good as one costing £300+ ... I'm sure most people could have figured that out for themselves without slating the OP!

So a 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM isn't leading edge. Agreed. But working on the basis that the OP probably uses a PC to browse Moneysavingexpert, do a bit of online shopping, and maybe write the odd letter, what problems are they going to have with the spec? Likewise for anyone else that doesn't need anything elaborate.

Just cos it's not leading edge doesn't mean it's not capable of doing anything that the average member of the public will need.

For the same price, perhaps http://direct.asda.com/eMachines-10.1-inch-Screen-Netbook-1GB-RAM-Windows-XP/000502760,default,pd.html is a good deal instead? Same specs but laptop version. I'd be interested to know what monitor comes with the Morrisons monitor, but to be honest as imroberts as highlighted, if that's all you want the PC for, why not go portable too and get the laptop? :D

OP seems to think this is some kind of a bargain that you'll make a profit from on eBay, it definitely is NOT. Computer described (and not that well described) above is worth nowhere near £300. Only recommended if you demand new and not secondhand, otherwise you can get better for the same money on gumtree/eBay.
  • If it had Windows 7(Vista?) it is an absolute steal.
£10 will makes it a pop in 2GB Ram

New desktops without a monitor will certainly sell at £200+ with Windows 7. Dells cheapest( no monitor and 1 GB RAM!) is now £250.

Sadly its probably store specific and now all gone.

It might be good for OU students who have received the computer grant - they have to buy new. The amount of grant has gone down this year, so this would mean students could buy a computer withought having to put too much towards it.

For £360 on gumtree I bought a 3 month old PC:

    Quad core
    4GB RAM
    1TB Harddrive
    Windows 7
    24" HD Monitor etc.

Just seems worth searching about and maybe save a bit more if u want something that will last a few years.
Gary here, fingers crossed for all compers
