It puts your insurance up too and declaring it to every single insurer you phone is a massive pain in the backside.

Also once you go above 5 claims in 5 years, many insurers stop quoting, which ends up costing you money.

To quote my insurance company, "it's no claim, not no blame".

I like how nobody overtakes during that massive section where there is a centre lane with broken hatchings which is just perfect for overtaking legally and safely.

Yeah I commented on that in the car, it's ok to overtake and cut people up AND risk a head on collision. BUT not ok to overtake on chevrons?? Utterly mental!

However that's another point for another time, it's people not reading the highway code and it won't change until people change.

It's not so much the 2nd hand owners as it is fleet/lease drivers who didn't buy the car and don't really care if it gets damaged. So you get "king of the road" syndrome combined with a suicidal "I don't give a hoot" attitude.

Got to agree with this ....... we have some right ones at our place, they don't have to worry about the resale cost of the car, know that in 3 or 4 yrs they get another one,all parts get repaired/fixed at no cost to themselves, and have 'important' conversations on handsfree phones,so thats allright then ... cough ........and always have somewhere really important to get to,quickly ............

Having been a 'Yellow' van driver (and yellow truck driver), yes there are those that give us a bad name, but most of the time we just want to do our jobs and go home.
The last thing we need are sunday drivers holding up the M180.
Just don't get me started on caravans on the A16 to skeggy ......

Actually the law specifically allows the ambulance and fire brigade to exceed the speed limit in an emergency situation.

Not sure about doctors but I'd let them past anyway.

Also if you're going to do the "I'm doing exactly 30" stunt, have you had your speedometer calibrated accurately as they vary, especially as they get older. Many years ago me and a friend did a test where I matched his speed. The speedo in his Nissan Micra 33 and the speedo in my Ford Escort read 25.

It certainly explains a lot about Micra drivers, and Escort drivers for that matter.

    I do 30mph as well.
So pass me with your speedo saying 33mph if you are worrying the calibration is out.
Otherwise stay behind in the discomfort of knowing you could be doing another 3 mph, and bite the steering wheel if you need to.

Actually if you work out the numbers on the example I gave, the difference is 8 mph (his car read 33 and mine read 25) so if you're doing an indicated 30 and the guy behind happens to be driving my old car, he thinks you're doing 22 and it doesn't really come as a huge surprise that they are getting annoyed.

Unlikely I'll pass you in town, it's rarely safe to do so and I'm not a white van man. I just know how their job goes* and have attempted to explain it so spare me the smug little digs based on how you perceive my driving style please.

And yes when you get onto the NSL single carriageway, think you're doing 60 and are actually doing 50 I'm going to go past you as soon as it is possible to do so safely and legally.

    * an extra 8 mph over the course of a 12 hour drive is an extra 92 miles, in a 70 limit that's an hour and a quarter knocked off someone's drive home without even taking into account knock-on effects such as Birmingham and Thelwall.

This vid illustrates very well, the day to day stupidity which occurs on our roads.

There is far too much aggression.

The guy in the Van is clearly an accident waiting to happen.

Any motivations for his actions cannot,in my view,be transferred to others. He is the driver,he is responsible for his actions.

My view is that i never get involved in chases such as these. I manage my own business and my own driving. I drive within the law and if others dont, then its their funeral. If they want to speed past, let them. If they want to cut in,let them.

I take comfort in the quality of my driving and the thought that one day justice will prevail. They will get ticketed, caught by a camera or unfortunately, they will be involved in an accident.

Many of us have the skills and agility to accommodate and react to their folly but one day, someone wont be able to and thats where it will all end.

What sort of cam is it BTW?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I drive within the law and if others dont, then its their funeral.

My point is that it's not "their funeral", it's theirs and potentially several innocent parties.
For all we know, those two (volvo and van) could have continued racing each other all the way into the nearest town centre eventually taking out a bus shelter full of school children!!

If people are wound up by people driving by the law and not causing a deliberate obstruction then fair enough, BUT when people deliberately continue to drive in a manner they KNOW is going to irritate other drivers they are being highly irresponsible and wreckless and should be punished under law.

Example: The idiots who sit in the RH lane of the motorway at 65mph and won't move over because they're on a one man plastic policeman mission.
