I wish to cancel my contract. On sunday the 10/02/2005 i started a new contract with vodafone via phones4u you shop. I want to know if it is possible to cancel this contract asap? I wondered if there was like a cooling of period when you first take out a contract? If so i will be using it to cancel my contract.
The reason i ask this is because since becoming connected to vodafone i have a diffrent number to the one they gave me on my contract. When phoneing up vodafone to query why i have a diffrent number to the one on the contract the gave me a worrying response.
They asked for my mobile phone number so i gave them the one on the contract and they asked me some security questions which i answered they then asked me what was the problem i explained. I got them to do a check on the actual number i was using and this was registered to someone else and was active account. So in theory i could of run up so innocent vodafone user a unknown a bill which they would of been charged for. I got them to check the activity on my actual number in case someone else other than myself had been using it and they said that it showed no signs of use. After getting of the phone to vodafone i run my number(the one on the contract) and luckily it could not be connected because it was not in use. So I'm confident that my contract number has not been used. I find it very worring that this has happened.
Has any other vodafone users experienced this problem?
I am going into the shop this weekend to hopefully clear up the matter your advice would be much apreciated.

I've found this on the phones4u website http://www.phones4u.co.uk/help/help_terms.asp#tac10 hopefully it's the same for buying in the store as well.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Did Vodafone not offer to connect the correct number? Try ringing them again and ask for their advice. It's possible the other number was sold in the same shop a bit earlier, and someone in the shop got mixed up. Or if the other number has been in use for some time, something is a bit odd; try and check you haven't been sold a 14 day return.
A recent Orange phone had a different number to that on the box. I've got an O2 sim that needed 3 attempts to get a number that worked. So these things do happen sometimes.0 -
I went into the shop on my lunch break today and they said they would put the new number on the phone. They said to leave the phone of for 30 mins and then try it. I left the phone turned off till i got home from work. When turning it on i still had the bad number. This number has apparantly been active for quite a while. It seems very odd to me.
I will now be cancelling it0
