A FTB that hasn't run up a ton of debt and is in stable employment can get 10% deposit mortgage, as said before, What is the problem?
The problem is "please sir, can I have some more ?"30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -
No risk-based reason? How about the risk in the public spending cut? The subsequent risk of more unemployment? Less money in benefits, less money in circulation?HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »In fairness, even 2007 UK mortgage lending standards were exponentially better than the USA lending standards that caused the crisis.
There is no risk-based reason why UK banks could not revert to 90% and 95% lending tomorrow. It's purely a matter of funding. They don't have access to the funds to lend, and so must ration the funds they have.
Oh, and what about the perceived 10% decrease in house prices in the next 6 months?30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0 -

instead of taking a long hard at look at his mistakes he blames everyone else for being a have not.
it's so tragic it's a little bit amusing...
LED TV?? i'd stick to a Pioneer Plasma if they still made them...0 -

I wouldn`t.
Green flashes. High power consumption. Image retention.
Modern LED/LCD screens beat Plasma TVs in terms of picture sharpness, power consumption. The only thing I can think of where a Plasma beats an LCD is viewing angles.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

You'd have done well, if it wasn't for the collosal fail

Graham, although I don`t recommend Plasma TVs, I`d still say that buying one beats being a parasite.
In fact, the extra electricity used by a Plasma TV will mean that you end up spending more of your savings.
If Comet were still open, I`d say get down there straight away.

Hamish, are you sure you want Graham to get help ?
I think you love him the way he is (and me for that matter). I reckon your "mate" Sibley is the one that needs to click on that link, not Graham. OK, he may be a bit mental for not buying a >37" LED TV, but please go easy on him.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. I might pop down anyway, just to spend some money needlessly on fuel. May even treat myself to a pack of monstermunch from the overpriced Shell garage.
Oh drat...then I'll be told I'm a hopeless failiure for not saving 50k in a year.
Decisions decisions.
Anyone want a jaffa cake?0 -

Nah, but I`ll have one ot two of your Monster Munch, as long as they`re Pickled Onion or Flammin` Hot. Don`t care much for the BBQ Beef.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -
