Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 13th of October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning good people,

I usually take my first drink of the day back to bed with me to do a gradual wake up, but I wanted to see if any of the Chilean miners were out yet. Two so far...I do hope they get them all out safely.

Not exactly OS, but I'm off to join Weightwatchers today. Most widows lose weight....I have put 2 1/2 stone on since this time last year. Having no kitchen for 2 months didn't exactly help I suppose.

I need to do another trip to the tip, and it's shopping day today. One good habit that I have got back into lately is to make a list of what we need, and to stick to it.

Take care all of you.

  • Morning!!, yes-brilliant news about the miners. can't help thinking there's a film in there somewhere!!

Off to a meeting today, no patients (good) all my bosses will be there (hopefully not bad!!) and, for once, it's in MY town rather than 40miles away so big petrol save today.

Not much OSing though! Cranky, WW is great, if you stick to it you WILL lose weight, it's really straightforward IIRC.

Hugs and High Fives as required.

Been up since 4.00a.m. watching TV - fascinating stuff.

Now cold so need to get showered and dressed.

Plenty OS here. Nothing needed to buy. Sat and unravelled a scarf made for me last year. My friend used double yarn (bamboo) and it's too thick and bulky so will knit two from it. Just got in a muddle separating the two yarns so it took ages.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

DW unloaded, breakfast eaten, fish fed, packup's made & Hubby dropped at the station & I'm on my 2nd cuppa.
Going out tonight to check out another local WI as mine is closing soon, depends how formal it is as to whether of not I join.
The only OS this week is the rubber chicken we are eating all week.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

4th miner on his way up, hope they get them all up ok, its very emotional to watch.

Off to work today, so will have a quick tidy round before I go, will do a wash when I get back later on, chicken curry with rice for tea, curry is all made so will just heat it through later on. DD will have veggie chilli, also made and in freezer.

We went to college last night to see about dd's course, it looks fab, she will have 3 days at college, and 2 days where she is not taught but goes in to the class and does the 12 hours of coursework/ homework per week  and there will be people on hand to help them study. She will also do a lot of placements throughout the course, and will spend 2 weeks abroad, somewhere like china or keyna, sounds like a great course :T

Hope everyone had a good day, xx

Sistercas - enjoy John Barrowman - yum! Was up most of last night dealing with DSs. DS1 spent most of the night on the toilet, and DS2 has mouth ulcers that have come up overnight all along his tongue. He also had wet beds, so I was up and down. Have interview today for a job I really want - as long as I don't fall asleep during the interview ;)

Tea will be jacket potatoes, cheese and live natural yog (if I can find it in the supermarket). Have a good day all x zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all

Cloudy and dull here, supposed to be showery today so won't put washing out also no wind anyway. 4th miner now out, hope they get the rest out without a problem.

DS1 went to Cadets last night, and got his uniform, he came out dressed in full uniform, he was so chuffed, it really brought a lump to my throat and tears in my eyes, a real awakening to the fact that he's no longer my baby. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant with him 14 years ago, the labour and birth and it seems like only yesterday, that's scary!

Just working this morning, then have my day's off and going back to work on Monday, lots to do as we're going away for half term in the caravan, am really looking forward to that, work has been rather stressed the last couple of days with high levels of sickness and staff holidays, hopefully that should be better today.

DH up and away to work at stupid early o'clock.

Going to look at Senior school tonight with DS2.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning folks, dry but cold this morning. Busy day ahead at work, aimimg to make jam from some rasps I have in the freezer this evening, as I have to get the freezer near empty as I have a new one coming tomorrow. A new one will nake a difference it means I can get more organised and purchase any bargains I come across.
Must fly, have a good day all,
    Suzy
