Get your facts right! Fact is .... Symbian has everything you need already on the phone, bar a few games etc... where as iOS and Android needs all these paid for apps just to do basic tasks.
Ugh all these uneducated people.....

I'd sooner have a Windows7 phone than another symbian. Personally, i plan to get a HTC Desire HD as soon as its out. Symbian is a dead platform in my eyes0 -
I have just had a look at all the apps on my Android phone none of them paid apps all free .
None of them needed to do basic tasks .
The Gartner link is out of date by a significant amount now .

I love my N8!
At least owning a Nokia now makes you stand out from the crowd!

To be honest, the N8 does look like a good phone and its finally got a new symbian software so time will tell on how good it is.
But my only slight issue with it is, how good is the support for the new OS at the moment? I assume its quite behind android apple.
Hopefully the new OS turns out to be really good as i have always had nokia's and symbian phones before my desire so would like to see it suceed.
But they need to get rid of the there current S60 OS as its p*** poor. My new orange San Francisco is miles better than my brothers N97.
EDIT: just seen a few reviews of the N8, other than the camera there is not much that is great on it. http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n8-review-523.php0 -
Problem is the original poster was wrong and garybuk was just as wrong .
2007 Nokia 50.8% of the market 2008 47.5% 2009 41.2 %
2010 so far 38% .
Symbian 2007 65.6% 2008 57.1 % 2009 49.3% 2010 so far 41%

Your even more wrong unless you can provide a link????
Thing is, Apple is a FAD it's a brand to make you look 'Cool', what can the iPhone do that no other phone can do? NOTHING. infact it's highly limited. Your stuck to what Apple tells you, you can and can't do. Fact is that Symbian is the most flexible and powerful operating system.
You may be thinking about the Feature Pack which is the GUI Layer on top of Symbian. And who are sony? their market share is how much?
Good luck buying that £500 iPhone then paying considerably more on data and stupid apps to get basic funcationality that my Nokia N900 / N8 can do ......
I guess i'm just someone who doesn't want to look 'cool' because the other guys got one too.0 -
To be fair, the original post was merely pointing out T3's view that HTC and Android are, IN THEIR OPINION, currently leading the way in Smartphones. Everyone has their own views. And every manufacturer and network provider wants to add their own two penn'orth to the mix. If you have an Apple phone, and it works for you, that's fine. Similarly, if you like the Symbian software and Nokia phones that's fine too. Personally, I have an HTC running Android 2.2. I like the fact that I can do as much or as little as I want to it.0

Actually, the N900 runs off 'Maemo' which was developed from Linux. So nothing to do with Symbian.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -

I think you need to come to the real world. :rotfl:
I dont have an iphone but i have to admit that they must be doing something right as the phone is so popular. So popular in fact that apple can set high prices and still achieve high sales.
Unlike symbian phones that have a relatively high price when they come out but within weeks the price drops as nobody wants them.
N900, wasnt that phone "claimed" to be one of the best phones around but turned out to a flop, like the majority of nokia's since the N95??
And all the reviews of the of the N8 are hardly great are they? Other than a great camera, the reviews are favouring apple and android phones instead.
Lastly, i thought the new symbian is supose to be good?? Just read the final verdict here, http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/nokia-n8-692448/review0 -
Strange the backing Nokia has here - surprising as it seems they have more confidence than the company and shareholders, not to mention developers!
Nokia chucked in CEO and appointed first non-Finn because it had been struggling to match the offerings of Apple et al.
Developers seem to be looking more and more towards iPhone and Android too now...
Whilst people note that Nokia has X and Y market share etc, but Apple as far as I know makes similar amounts of cash from selling less phones.
Nokia might have more of the market (and a large range) but it needs to take a big leap and get on the right track again.0
