We brought the tesco one last week and can highly recommend it! Had a lovely beef stew yesterday cooked on the low setting. Put it on at 9am and ate it around 5, no burning at all.

Hi Newleaf,
Obvioulsy you bought yours from your local Tescos. Tescodirect.com still showing out of stock and a recent email from them confirms they don't know when they will be back in again. Live about 12 miles from my nearest Tesco so might try a telephone call in order to save an un-neccessary journey.

Hi, I am looking to get one of these after reading some of the threads and wondered if anyone can recommend any good/bad points on them (the tesco one at £9.98 and argos at £8.99.
They are both on sale at the moment for under £10 and I just need to decide what to get.... Any feedback appreciated! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I wish they had had these when I bought on this summer. I had to go for a 6.5l one from tesco.com, but it was only 24.99 and I got double points.
They are great for any cheaper cuts of meat.;)Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52

Summer01 & astonsmummy - I bought the argos one last thursday & I've used it twice so far to good effect.
On saturday I browned some pork steaks in a pan & chucked them in the slow cooker with some stock cubes/boiling water, chopped red onion, cubed tatties, sliced carrots & some basil/other stuff. It was really tasty, if I did it again I'd prefer it to be more 'sauce' than the liquid but that's down to me - it soaked up nicely into tiger bread mmm.
Yesterday I made a curry in it & left it on low for about 12 hours. I put chopped tomatoes, fried onion curry base, garlic, tandoori massala spices, a small amount of cubed tatties & a lb of cubed chicken breast. Ok I admit I put a small amount of rogan josh sauce in there too, cop-out
It works really well, I guess recipes are made up as you go along. The crock pot is quite thick & substantial & holds some heat. The casing of the cooker can get hot to the touch in a few places, but you wouldn't touch it anyway would you? While it is cooking & you want to stir it be a bit careful as the pot gets hot.
Washing up is easy. The curry one left more of a line but it had been cooking for 12 hours. Get a soup ladle for getting the food out as the pot is quite deep, using a spoon would be difficult.
I totally recommend it, I'm happy with mine & am using it. Maybe in a couple of months it will have a dusty spot next to my bread makerdesrever sthgir lla0 -
I'm happy with mine, I had a £30 Morphy Richard stainless steel one before I bought the Argos one. With that it was very difficult to clean the crockpot but the Argos crockpot is much easier to clean. The MR one used to be hot to touch as well.

My friend was in a meeting in the Slough area today and popped into the Slough Tesco big store, she said there was loads of the £9.99 ones in there stacked up and offered to get me one if I wanted it, but plenty more people are recommending the cookworks one so may go with this...... thanks for the advice! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
