The tesco one shows as 2.2kw which is pretty high for a slow cooker.

leilasmum - What does the box say as I think the website could be wrong.

    Cheers

How does it cope with fast food?

  • Tesco have been doing this price for a long time now. Took mine back and got a refund because the one I got was dangerous - the outside metal part got REALLy hot, so hot it was scalding, it would boil water even on the keep warm setting lol. I found out why they are so cheap but you get what you pay for I guess

I have the same overheating problem with a Paul Rankin slow cooker from Dyas. For years I had a Tower slow cooker, brilliant. Took 6 hours to do Roast lamb half leg - the new one takes 3 hours and burns round the edges. Any tips which slow cookers are TRULY slow - when I get another, dont want it to be another oven!

I think the Cookworks one is much better than my 6.5 litre MR one. THAT one used to cook quite fast and leave a ring on the inside of the crockpot that was a nightmare to scrape off and get clean. So far the Cookworks one on low does cook really slow but has an auto and high setting too. I dont seem to get the same burnt on ring in the Cookworks, only downside is that when you scrub it it leaves a kind of scratchmark, even though I havent scratched it with anything if you see what I mean! I dont have a dishwasher so maybe others dont get that problem.

    Hi,
Tesco cook pot showing temp out of stock on their web site. As regards the burning, maybe it is really is 2.2kw althought I think that should say 220 watts. I have just looked at a one in Asda and that consumption is 270 watts Can't understand why it should burn food though. I just think the Tesco design looks better than the Cookworks one, but seen as it will probably spend 90% of its life in a cupboard, its not that important. Regards - sallysaver

Just bought one of these tesco ones today as my old one was too big for the two of us. There are 3 settings and the leaflet says 174 - 207 Watts. It's a nice looking piece of kit. My old one is 20+ years old and was bought second hand from a colleague who was emigrating, but it takes up a lot of space and I don't need to make such huge quantities. I'll be trying it out on Saturday to check for faults - thanks for the tip!
