I get sick of picking up a recipe book to find i need half of the supermarket to make the recipe.
I've tried to find the book since but can't
I wondered if any of the brill people on here could add there own recipes, using just four ingredients? but lets not include beans on toast etc:rolleyes:
Or does anyone know where i can get the book from?
I saw this book in my local MrT's at the weekend. If you would like me to get you a copy I will, just PM me£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
I bought a book of 3 ingredients and less (plus spices, oil etc).
I was disappointed. It included things like buy brioche loaf and ... buy croissants and....
So lots of it was buy ready made things and then use that to make into other dishes, which for some of them and with a family of 4 would work out a bit pricey. I gave it away to someone who might use itworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Ok, I have this book, its called Three & Four Ingredient Recipes.
I don't recommend it - the recipes I have tried from it do not work
Here is my 4 ingredient recipe:
Nosh Up
- Pack of sausages
- 4 rashers of bacon
- 2 tins of spaghetti
- Mash potato
- Cheese
1. Cook sausages and bacon, chop into chunks and put in dish
2. Add spaghetti (it can be cold straight from the tin)
3. Top dish with mash potato, smother with cheese
4. Bake in oven (200) until bubbling and golden on top.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
no one seems to think very highly of the book, so i might scrub round getting it. Thanks, you've saved me a few quid.
Even so theres some really tasty sounding recipies coming up here, and they're all free, so very MS:DThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
I have one of these books also and I think its ok...
Will find it out tonight and post some stuff if I get time....
BTW it cost me about £4 from one of those book sellers that comes round your work and leaves the books with you for a week....

Mine is "Four Ingredient Cookbook" by Joanna Farrow publisher HH (Hermes House). All cooked from scratch & add storecupboard bits (oil, herbs etc).
I think I bought it from one of the cut price high street book shops for about £4-£5.
I like mine. I never seem to have all the ingredients for a lot of recipes and then I forget to buy them so they are treated as light reading rather than cookery books.0 -
:rotfl: i know what you mean mine is the same book... i find that with this book coz it is just the basics you can slightly change the ingredients and it dont really change the final result plus im a buggar for not following recipe anyway so it works out in the end xxx
Still searching .....:)

Saute some red peppers, add chopped tomatos, reduce, add sliced chorizo, serve with pasta. Season. Done. Or something. And if, you know, your history...0

I've found another one of mine that meets the criteria.
SPANISH OMELETTE
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
½ an onion
2 eggs
Ground pepper to taste
1 potato
100ml of water
1 tablespoon of olive oil
METHOD
Peel the onion and chop it into tiny pieces. Break the eggs into a bowl and pick out any bits of shell. Mix up the eggs. Season with the pepper.
Peel the potato and chop it into 1cm (½ inch) cubes. Boil in a saucepan with the water for about 5 minutes, checking that they do not fall apart. Drain the potato.
Put the oil in a frying pan on a moderate heat. Add the onion and potato. Fry the onion and potato, stirring to stop them sticking. When they are golden add the eggs.
Turn the heat down really low. Cover the pan. Leave it for at least 10 minutes*. Uncover the pan. Put it under a grill for a couple of minutes until the top is brown.
Cut it into triangular pieces.
ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES
An authentic Spanish omelette uses just onion and potato, but it is still a good way of using up leftovers. Bacon, cooked ham, grated cheese, mushrooms, peas, sweet peppers and tomatoes all work well.
* The low heat stops the egg sticking and the slow cooking makes the egg fluff up.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
