Sorry but this gets worse - I did manage to copy the pictures to my computer, although I now need the camera memory card in the printer before I can access the pictures on my computer - not really what I was trying to achieve in copying and pasting.

Why do you need the memory card in the printer? What error message are you getting when you try to access the copied pic on the PC?

Describe to us HOW you copy/pasted them, and where you pasted them to.

I used to be able to put the camera memory card into a slot in my powered up printer which would set the wizard going on my computer screen. From that point I could download pictures to My Pictures on my computer. For some reason the wizard no longer appears.

Now what I have done is copy and paste the pictures using right mouse click, pressing copy, and then pasting them to a ready named file within My Pictures. However, I now need to have the memory card inserted into the printer to be able to access those copied and pasted pictures. The picture name within the named file in My Pictures comes up with "Shortcut to IMG_2078", so I cannot access those pictures without the camera memory card being in the printer.

Phew! Hope you understand all that!

How did you paste them ? Did you paste as a shortcut ?? If so Just use plain old paste , or drag and drop them either is the better way.

Right click copy, and right click paste. Not sure why that resulted in a "shortcut". Will try the drag method and see what result that has.
  • Just a thought (that is my limit for thoughts today :D) You say a ready named file in my pictures I assume you mean a Folder within my pictures , if you right click on that Folder(or file as you called it) select properties and see what that shows as.

You haven't pasted them into My Pictures then - you've created shortcuts to the pictures on the card, which are only accessible when the card is inserted.

Create a FOLDER within My Pictures first. Open this folder.
Insert card. Open folder within card.

With two folders open, right-click selected picture(s) in card folder, press 'Copy'

Right-click in open space of My Pictures folder, click 'Paste'
