Getting Camera Photos to Computer ...

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer, and have been trying to get pictures from my camera memory card to the computer.

Have never had a problem before, as when I inserted the memory card into the printer, it would automatically bring up the wizard on my computer to start the process to download the pictures. However, this is not happening now, and not only do I not know why, but I don't know how to get the wizard to load.

I'm sure it is probably something really simple, but duh ... I don't have a clue!

Any help very welcome.

can you not leave the memory card in the camera and attach the camera to your computer using a usb cable, then it is exactly like a usb flash drive and you can copy the photos off.
  • Reinstall the driver for the Epson software. Either that, or completely reinstall the full Epson software suite. To do this, just go to Start>Default Programs>(bottom left) Programs and Features> locate the Epson suite and click uninstall. Then take the software CD and reinstall it as you did before.
  • Sorry to get back to you on this after all this time, and at the time I did the the method stated by jayme1 and it worked.

However, I have just tried to do it again and have hit a brick wall again in copying the photos to the computer.

    Help!

With the memory card inserted into the printer, open My Computer or Computer and look for the Printer as an external drive.

You'll usually have your primary hard disk (C:, and possibly D:), one or more optical drives (E:, possibly F:)..... and what else? You tell us.

If it's showing as a drive in Computer (Explorer), you should be able to either double-click to open it, or right-click it with an option on the menu to Open or Explore it.

Navigate to where the pics are, and Copy/Paste them to where you normally put them on your hard drive

With that little bit of extra information I have now managed to copy the photos to My Pictures on my computer - thanks. However, I'm not sure thats how I did it the last time, but I've managed.

Why? If the card has been recognised as an external drive when plugged into the printer, and the printer is printing, then you're sorted.

You don't HAVE to use the Wizards that are provided for you. There's more than one way to skin a cat and to copy pictures from one drive to another.

Get a cheap USB SD card reader from Poundland or similar, then copy your pictures onto your computers hard drive.

Like this sort of thing on ebay

  • Sorry but this gets worse - I did manage to copy the pictures to my computer, although I now need the camera memory card in the printer before I can access the pictures on my computer - not really what I was trying to achieve in copying and pasting.

However, now when I try to use the memory card in my camera it won't take photos and comes up with a message on the camera screen stating "card locked".

    Help!!
  • Little sliding switch on side of card says lock , put it in unlock position.
