The cake looks really lovely and those domes aren't easy to make, I've never gotten them to stay in one piece! Any tips on this?
I would also like to ask why you come on here SMCQIS. I can understand you going on other websites to give your "opinions" but a wedding forum? I know people do this just to get a rise out of people and get some social interaction, but really, on a forum about flowers and cakes and dresses? A forum full of...I'm guessing 99.9% women discussing ideas for the big day? I'm also guessing that we all don't want all of the ideas for our own weddings but it's fine to admire them and give people praise on what they've planned to make their day special. People aren't here to be judged. I love working out why people think the way they do, and I could certainly guess your personality type by the few comments I have seen you make. But I won't. What I would suggest, so that you can give a more positive contribution to society, is for you to maybe drag yourself away from making pointless little comments on a wedding forum and do something more constructive, like interact with people in the flesh.Weight loss 2015: -4lbs January (thanks flu):wall:

Edit to say: I'm not trying to have a go, I'm generally interested to know. If you know what you want, its clearly not to pick up some ideas.
Quite frankly the wedding day itself is not as important to me, I take little involvement in it only basically giving my option. I never said I wodnt use any ideas but it will be us who decides what the details we use not from being convinced by strangers.
Maybe can find stuff cheaper or help others where i can, but also being honest. Unfortunately this part of the forum seems to be run by women, whom many (not all) use as an Agony Aunt to give off a rant only looking sympathy...dont get me started on those ppl!0 -
Ok as baker of the above cake can we please stop all this biting at each other, whats the point!
I lightly greased a stainless steel salad bowl and then put it in the freezer for an hour before adding the melted chocolate. I used 1lb white choc per shell and I melted it all together but only used about 4oz at a time. Then inbetween each layer I put it back in the freezer. I continued until the 1lb of chocolate had been used. To turn them out I gently eased the top edge using a sharp veg knife, squeezed the bowl a little then placed it over the cake/truffles1 shell cracked completely in half as I arrived at the reception the day before so I had to do a repair job, I felt like a plasterer. That was part of the reason why I drizzled various choc over it to cover up my lack of skill in plastering
I have been asked to do this cake for someones wedding but not sure yet, there's plenty of time to give my answer
