  • Afternoon all,

    Brrrrrrrr again Brrrrrr!!
Pooch is all walked out bless her and is now snuggled down on her fleece blanket. Scrubbed the upstairs bathroom and left the window open to air it (its my ensuite so will do the bedroom too).Closed the bedroom door to keep the warmth in the rest of the house. Put on WM,have the airer in the ensuite so the breeze should dry the clothes abit quicker and i wont have wet clothes hanging about.
Im sat here with 2 pairs of socks, jumper and dressing gown! Its so cold but refuse to put the heating on while DD is at school...im tough :undecided
Pooch and i are huddled in the living room.Sat here with a pint of tea-addicted to the stuff (got brought fanastic pint mugs when i moved in,my best friend knows me so well!) This is the coldest i've been for a long time, dreading the real winter hitting...how will i cope??! Found myself discussing 'preparing for winter' with a few mums in the playground yesterday and they thought i was mad for starting so early...well i'll have the last laugh when they are all rushing around like headless chickens stocking up and buying warm clothes/blankets etc etc :D:D

Hope everyones well and enjoying their day

    Hello all,

Bit of a bad day for me, had a rough night with some proper gallstone pain, not just twitchy pain and it has been bothering me all day. Had to cave into the pain and take my painkillers so have been dozing on and off all morning.

Am up and dressed now got to run my mum to the doctor for her flu jab and drop in the pescription's then run her round to Sainsburys for a few bits. Then I am hoping I can do my daily flying well a bit of it anyhow. Then it is time for my evening support group so busy busy afternoon I am hoping as long as the pain stays back.

Big loves, hugs and spoons all round

Thanks for that, Bargainbird. I think I'll cook it tomorrow, and do enough for the 2 days, as I need something easy (ie nuke it and eat LOL) for Thursday, as Mr LW has his pal coming over for cider and gaming Thursday evening.;)

LOL Having a 60-year-old gamer in the house..... almost as bad as having teenagers!:D:D:D

Ooh, that's just reminded me, I'll have to make some cheese straws, too, as the pal loves them. *Trots off to put reminder in PDA*

    Afternoon everyone

Not managed to post over last few days due to my daughter getting married last Sunday. She got married at The Leeming House Hotel at lake Ullswater, it was a lovely day and the sun shone, scenery was stunning too. We got back late yesterday afternoon after picking pup up from the breeder who had agreed to look after him for us.

Went to a open evening at one of the local high schools last week and got really upset when I got home. DS2 is working at level 1(he is 10) and the school said most pupils coming to the school are at level 4. the school looked good, but after speaking to the special needs person, she mentioned that he would lose his self esteem as it is an academic school. Made me realise how far behind he is and whether any of the local high schools would be able to meet his needs. His main problems are literacy and numeracy - severe dyslexia. I know there are specialist dyslexic schools but most are independant and cost approx £7000 per term. There is nothing specialist near to where I am. I am struggling on whether to send him to one of the local schools or to fight and try and get the EA to pay for a private school. Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this?

os today was to unpack, washing been done and is on line. Beefburgers for tea as ds2 at his outdoor adventure club till 5.30 then I have nightschool at 7pm. All floors have been cleaned too.

I have also managed to get an interview for a TA job at a local school on thursday so please send positive vibes as it is part time 12 hours a week and would fit in with ds2 school hours. Have no experience in school apart from as a parent with a statemented child. I would love to get this job so much to make a difference to someone else's childs school experience.

Still haven't caught up the rest of the threads since Thursday but will catch up over next few days. Enjoy the rest of your day, Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take Care.

    Lynne
  • Lynne, I don't have experience, but if I were in that position I would be fighting tooth and nail with the LEA to provide him with suitable education. In the meantime, is there a specialist private tutor you could afford once or twice a week, to see if the additional one to one help would help him. In all my research about ASD for DS1 I came across a lot of research/theories about helping ASD kids, and those with Dyslexia/Dyspraxia through exercise, especially balance based stuff like trampolining and gymnastics. That was the reason I got the boys a trampoline for the garden, and I definitely see some differences with DS1 and think it definitely helped, I'll pm you the link about the organisation I found most interesting, if you like, it was started by someone whose daughter had severe problems caused by dyslexia. In fact, here it is for anyone who might be interested, I have no lnks to the organisation http://www.dore.co.uk/

    Evening all,

Spent most of the morning chasing Kerry who had taken off over the fields with/to avoid her admirer...she hasn't even been outside since as he is waiting and seems to be able to cover both doors! Hopefully he will go home for a short while even so that she and I can have a little walk.

Beautiful blue sky here today, not a cloud to be seen, chilly but lovely to be out in, did a bit of weeding and messing around in the garden, should be more organised but why do I expect that to happen at 65??

Gas went in the middle of cooking dinner, OH couldn't find the spanner thingy he uses when changing the cylinders, so finished my dinner on camping stove....handy yoke to have around the place.

Nothing else happening here, out early to-morrow to go to Warfarin clinic with OH, plan on finding an excuse to go to IKEA afterwards, he hates the place, but I have a cunning plan!

JC...hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs to all in need or want of one

  • Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on here for a while. I am seriously exhasuted now I am back at work, and the old M.E. is rearing it's ugly head. We have been good OS wise with the gorcery shopping and I still cannot believe that I haven't put our heating on yet considering that I feel the cold so much.

Have been looking around for Christmas/winter birthday presents and am thinking Boots 3 for 2 is the way I am going to save the most money this year whilst still being able to buy people nice presents.

Sorry to hear about your Auntie Redruby, dementia makes everything so much harder to deal with. My Grandma had Altzheimer's and when she was physically ill it made it much harder to deal with.

Hugs and Spoons to all xxxxxxx
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
