Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning - my last day of the working week, so It's Friday :j:j:j The office was terrible yesterday, so I'm looking forward to my 5 days off ;)

Courgette, chickpea and apricot curry, with cous cous for tea. Freezer Roulette for lunch :rotfl:

Have a great Old Style Day everyone

  • Morning all
Didn't manage to post yesterday, wasn't feeling well, all better now though.
DW's on, hubbys been dropped at the station with his pack up, fish have been fed & breakfast eaten.
I didn't get to work til 11 yesterday & left at 2, fortunately it was very quiet, my boss had to cover the 7:30 til 8:30 stint, she said it was crazy busy & many people panicked when they realised I wasn't there.
I went to bed at 7 & slept through til 5 this morning so no OS was done yesterday, but I had made 2 chicken & mushroom plate pies with the leftover chicken form Sunday so hubby had a slice of pie for his tea.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Looks like it might me a nice day again, I am loving all these bright but cold days :j, getting my washing dry each day, today I think I will wash the big thick cotton throw off of our bed.

Had the chap round yesterday to see of we could have cavity wall put in, we can, and only have a small amount to pay :j, they are coming next week and it will only take 1/2 a day I am thrilled to bits, should make it much warmer this winter, as this tends to be a cold house, cant wait to have it done.

Dinner tonight will be a mini roast with chicken breast, cauli, sprouts and roasties, then its off out for the college open evening with dd and her friend, need to get some info on the course she wants to do.

OK better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning all

Cloudy and dull here, will put washing out and see what happens! Now seems to be getting colder again, haven't got heating on but may need it on shortly!

Yesterday was a bit mad, had to stay late at work and have been asked to do the same today, people gone off sick and already have 2 on holiday! Well we got sorted in the end, but apparently Friday was terrible for staffing too, glad I don't work the end of the week.

We had smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce, went down very nicely after the hairdresser had finished, I'm now all re-coloured and boys and DH are all cut. Tonight's dinner is pork chops but boys like having a quick tea on Tuesday's so they may have scrambled egg on toast or something like.

DS1 been asked to play in a school away Rugby match on Wednesday - he's really chuffed so hoping they play well.

Boys only have this week and next then it's October half term, that's scary, but am making way with the X**s shopping though.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning :hello:

    DAY OFF :j :j

For the past week, most of our communication with the kids has been through notes left on the kitchen table. We actually spoke to them last night, that was quite nice :D They've been great, although their idea of clean is different to mine so I'm going to potter about the house this morning and straighten things up.

I bought £35 worth of christmas decs for £6, and bagged myself a Villeroy & Boch cheese board for free :T They let me have a display stand for my cards too :T When the shops close, everything is being moved to the warehouse (oh sorry, I mean Distribution Centre, lol) and I'll be going down there to have a root around.

I want to check the greenhouses, I haven't seen them in daylight for a week. I had a quick peek with the torch at 10.30 the other night, there should be lots of toms waiting for me.

After lunch I'm sticking my feet in the foot spa, then catch up on sleep, I'm exhausted. I love the job itself, the people have been great, but will I do another refurbishment sale? Not a chance in hell :D

It was 6:30 am - I was typing in the dark so as not to wake myself up :p:p:p

Morning all - nice day (if no sun) here this morning. Was up in the night with DS1 - poorly tummy - so am going to take him to school and see if the school will let him in this morning. If not then he can help me Fly today - kitchen and dining room.

Did the sitting room yesterday - was good. So will crack on with the flying today. Dinner tonight will be something from the freezer - not sure what. Any leftovers in the fridge today can go to the dogs - saving me money on dog food ! ;) Oh well, better get on and do the school run. hugs to those in need.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning my lovelies :D

Suffering with a general malaise today. Don't feel poorly as such just feel "off". Am fighting a cold for a week now and it can't seem to make its mind up whether to be full blown snot-fest or annoying sniff :o
Anyway got some errands to run this morning after Show Me Show Me ;) Popping to Boots for some Ibuprohen (sp?) as I joined the old Boots Health Club I normally get the max strength ones half price :), then heading to Hobbycraft for some craft !!!!!! :rotfl: and then finally to Sainsbury's. Realised i wanted to cook lasagne and I don't have any lasagne sheets doh!!
This afternoon will the probably be spent making lasagne and meatball soup I think. I'd like to squeeze in a sit down if I get chance

redruby - we had cavity wall insulation done last year. It definately made a big difference to the warmth of the house and like you we only had to pay a nominal amount (I think £150).

OK need to get a move on and have a coffee before me and DD dash out of the door.
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day (albeit cool and breezy) OS or not.

    Morning all.

I got so workedf up yesterday, but work was fine! It was actually really good, if a little knackering. Today I've got lots of odd cleaning jobs and bits of uni work to do, also need to get to the shops so it's probably going to be pretty busy...
