Free Sky Movies weekend coming on 29th October. Full details below.
Viewers are actually only getting 1 free movie channel though (Sky Showcase) which is on Sky Channel 303.
SKY MOVIES FREE WEEKEND
For one weekend, customers who don’t currently subscribe to Sky Movies can enjoy a superb selection of the great films on offer, for free! Featuring a wide variety of titles, the weekend includes family treats like Coraline, Bedtime Stories and Race to Witch Mountain (2009), as well as some cracking comedy with Role Models and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Other top titles include Confessions of a Shopaholic, Gran Torino and Seven Pounds. Plus, don’t miss a trio of ace animations courtesy of Disney Cinemagic HD, including the brilliant Bolt.
Sky Movies Free Weekend will be available to customers on Sky, Virgin Media, UPC, Velocity 1, Small World and Magnet.
From Friday 29 October – Sunday 1 November,
Sky Movies Showcase/HD
Its not the best movie deal ever, but there are some decent movies in there including Clint Eastwood's excellent Gran Torino for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
Enjoy.

Here's a complete list of all movies on Sky Movies Showcase during the 3 day period. You can find the times for yourself on your Sky+ box nearer the time.
Most movies are shown twice a day.

As with the recent free ESPN sports weekend, Sky seem to have dumbed down Showcase with a few older movies - King Arthur, Nutty Professor 2 etc and some rather dodgy kids movies.
Here's the best of the bunch IMO:
Righteous Kill
Seven Pounds
Gran Torino
Role Models

Like the free Sky Sports weekend just gone, there is nothing truly exciting on. When we had the free sunday, there were not major teams playing.0

We're due to upgrade to Sky+ on Sunday, does anyone know if these will be recordable with Sky+ or will I have to use my dvd recorder? Or maybe they'll be encrypted and I won't even be able to record?DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Yes, you'll be able to record these OK. However movies which are rated 15 or 18 will need pin-code access and this won't be available after the free movies weekend has ended as your box will detect you aren't a movie subscriber.
So get your chosen movies recorded onto your DVD recorder over the 72 hour period and you can then watch them at your leisure.0 -

...one thing Sky is good at is giving us appetisers for the good stuff.
You can guarantee in between the run of the mill films, they will advertise the latest films to be released on Sky Movies next weekend in a valiant hope that you can't do without Sky Movies and subscribe to it straight away.Whoa! I'm looking forward to this

At best, it should be described as a bonus for current subscribers.
I think your definition of "free" is used out of context. It specifically says free to customers. Non-subscribers are not customers!
You wouldn't expect to receive the free benefits provided by Companies for which you were not an employee. How is this any different?
My definition of "free" is something you don't have to pay for. And in this case, sky customers who don't already pay for Sky Movies are able to view this weekend without additional cost.
But that's not to say Sky are not a money grabbing organisation monopolising Satellite TV in the UK.

What $ky are offering is not really free, as it is only available to those already paying a charge. It is therefore a bonus.
Something cannot be a little bit free: it is an absolute!
$ky's advertising is as misleading as 'buy one get one free', so beloved by UK supermarkets, but banned in some European countries.
Even in terms of satellite broadcasting the advertising is misleading, as nothing this weekend will be broadcast free to air (FTA) or free to view (FTV).
By your definition then freesat, Freeview and FTA are also not free as you have to pay a license to legally watch them.0
